Critic Reviews for Excubitor
Excubitor is a fun and frantic mix of old school shooting and tower defense gameplay.
The Steam community greenlit Excubitor—and it's apparent why. It's a fun and challenging tower defense game with a twist, steeping you in the action instead of having you just sit back and watching everything unfold.
Excubitor has a sound concept, with the shooter and tower defence genres working really well together. So it’s a shame then that a lot of the details equate to heavy, inaccurate controls and a cruel difficulty level, limiting the amount of enjoyment that can be had.
A well-executed mashup of two genres that's worth checking out if you're a fan of either.
Excubitor has a lot of enjoyable moments, though the tower defense elements lack and the controls take a little time to get used to.
Excubitor really did the execution well between mashing the shooter and tower defense genres together. Maybe it just had to redefine itself just as a shooter/tower defense game than a bullet-hell type of game and such a compromise with the gameplay is understandable for the mash-up to work.
