Sunless Sea is a unique title. A rogue-like set in a Lovecraftian nightmare with table-top RPG elements backed up by some truly excellent writing. The slow pace, and narrative delivery may well put some players off though.

Failbetter Games have brought upon themselves a trademark capable of enduring over time, born with Fallen London back in the day and now present in both Sunless Sea and the upcoming Sunless Skies. This is by far the best way to experience the studio's vision and their unique take in narrative driven games.

Sunless Sea is a good game and Zubmariner brings a solid amount more of that goodness into the fold…  But for anyone who has played the game somewhat extensively, I would proceed with caution because for me, a lack of anything really new was the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back.
