Critic Reviews for Crypt of the Serpent King
This poor excuse for a dungeon crawler doesn't even have enough entertainment value to fall into the "so bad it's good" category. It's a masterclass in lazy design, from the abominable graphics and abysmal soundtrack through to the gameplay that is laughably unbalanced in your favour. Bugs and frame-rate drops are the final nails in the coffin. Score hunters will find an easy 1000G here, but it'll be precious hours of your life that you can't get back. Do the decent thing and let this one slither back to the crypt from whence it came.
As mentioned, you’ll come across treasure chests, but I couldn’t help but laugh at the contents – the food is always the same steaming pre-cooked meal, as if in this world the treasure chests are actually fancy microwaves.
In a few words, Crypt of the Serpent King is a game designed for old school players. It doesn't seem to be able to attract new players at all.

It is very basic and should last no longer than a few nights to complete, but with a price as low as this it is difficult to expect anymore.
Crypt of the Serpent King Remastered 4K Edition is just a prettier version of this previously released dungeon crawler and that’s it. If you played it before there isn’t much reason to return unless you want some more easy trophies. Newcomers won’t have to spend much to gain entry to these dungeons but will quickly see that this game has little substance and will likely move on from it quickly.
The combat can get repetitive, the jumping is awful, and the difficulty ranges from extremely easy to extremely hard. Despite these faults there is still plenty enjoyment to be had in the game, along with a jenesequa that kept me trying again and again.
Crypt of the Serpent King's only redeeming feature is that it hasn't crashed and corrupted my PlayStation 4 hard drive yet.
Crypt of the Serpent King might come with a small price tag but like some many other things in life, you get what you pay for.
