Critic Reviews for ZEN Pinball 2: Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron
Zen Pinball 2's Age of Ultron table doesn't offer enough fan service to appease any level of Avengers fan, and there aren't enough interesting mechanics to excite a virtual pinball fan. The satisfaction of knocking a ball around is present, but you can find that along with a better table elsewhere in Zen Pinball 2's library.
Marvel's Avengers–Age of Ultron looks like a 10-car pileup glued together with overly looping dialogue and a few forgivable missteps. Even without prior existing knowledge of these superheroes' thoughts and motivations, it's still a challenging table with subtle rewards.
Don't get me wrong, this table is not bad. Should you own it if you are a big Zen Pinball player? Of course. It is well worth the three bucks, but when I compare this to the other tables Zen Pinball has released recently, it just feels slightly lackluster. Nevertheless, fans of the Zen Pinball franchise should look into Age of Ultron. It's not bad, just not a big standout from the other tables released on the platform.
Age of Ultron is safer and more predictable than Pinball FX2's best tables, and therefore it doesn't sell itself as being essential. There's still a solid game of pinball here for the diehards that simply want something new, but casual players should instead look to more memorable options, like the accessible Guardians of the Galaxy or the dynamic The Walking Dead. Then again, if you have kids that haven't been introduced to pinball yet, this might be one to consider. Just know that it can be a bit too aggressive for its own good.
The 'Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron Pinball' table does its job as far as tying back to its source material, and its got just enough going on to be a passable, welcome addition to the collection, but one can't deny there's more that could've been done to make this one a hell of a lot more super. Still, the fact that every new commercial for the film the happens I end up wanting to play this means the game has done its job well
