Critic Reviews for Ancient Amuletor
Ancient Amuletor is actually fairly close to being a hidden gem for PlayStation VR owners, with fun gameplay across four characters and motion controls that work rather well, but there's simply not enough levels at launch and only vague promises of more in the future. As they add more worlds and characters, TiGames can hopefully make this shine.
There are a lot of good pieces in place here, with the gameplay mechanics and the co-op, but they've been packaged in a very scant box that doesn't do them justice. Ancient Amuletor needs to be more than a short PSVR experience that is barely longer than the demo that's already available for free. Perhaps all of the elusive "Coming Soon" content will fix that, but at launch Ancient Amuletor finds its quiver running out of arrows too soon.
Ancient Amuletor provides a lot of fun in virtual reality, but currently lacks depth of content.
Although Ancient Amuletor has all the core mechanics and functionality of an excellent PlayStation VR title, the pure lack of content will leave you yearning for all of the extras that are currently locked out. Factor in the barren online multiplayer community, and this title really squanders its very real potential.
If you're looking for a quick distraction with fast rounds and short game times, Ancient Amulator is worth a pickup.
Ancient Amuletor is an enjoyable PSVR experience but sorely lacks in terms of content. Playing alone or with others online is enjoyable, and I found all of the playable heroes to have their own purpose. Some are better for long-range attacks and others focus on waiting until the enemies come to them to dish out destruction. Multiplayer is the best way to play the game, but I've found it nigh impossible to find anyone else playing outside of launch week. It's a shame, as it is one of the better PlayStation VR games to be released if it had increased the amount of content in the game as well as add more variety to the gameplay.
It's a responsive, smooth experience, but Ancient Amuletor lacks the depth it needs to be a truly worthwhile PSVR title.
All in all, Ancient Amuletor was fun to play and is well worth the purchase. It offers a good experience for the asking price, and its DLC pack is only a few bucks to gain access to a new theme, a new playable character, two new stages and more.
