Bullet Soul is back with a new recipe: Burst! The same aggressive, bullet-cancelling gameplay, flashy pyrotechnics and addictive action, but now with refined level design, more modes and more destruction! Shooting fans of all abilities, it's time to welcome back the true spirit of Japanese shooting games! Gameplay Infinite Burst takes the basics of Bullet Soul and adds two major enhancements: first, Burst Mode with it's overhauled level design, brand new coin-collecting mechanics and the eponymous Combination Burst system. Secondly, Loop, the bonus character, is now available across all modes. In addition, Normal and Caravan modes have been redesigned and rebalanced with new enemies and attack patterns and when Musou (or Infinite Burst) Mode is unlocked, you can rain down destruction with the titular Infinite Burst. Music The resident musical chefs, Kenji Ito and Kohta Takahashi return and this time they've brought Jake 'Virt' Kaufman to add his own blend of spice to their aural feast! Story Mecha-warl, an empire of evil, who would use their military might to conquer space itself. This is the tale of the brave few who stood against their threat. Zenichi, Yun, Sadahl and Loop begin their struggle to once more rid the galaxy of this threat.

I rarely talk about the music in games, but it's catchy and fits the atmosphere enough to make one feel like they are standing in front of an arcade cabinet instead of sitting at their PC.

Is Bullet Soul Infinite Burst worth it over the vanilla version of the game that was released back in April? I say yes especially for the affordable asking price and given that Burst Mode is really fun to play with and considering the additional overhaul of Normal and Caravan modes. Newcomers to the series are also welcome to grab their copy as this is basically the definitive version of the game.

It's true that Bullet Soul Infinite Burst doesn't offer the obvious new stages, characters, or difficulty options that would have guaranteed a double dip for fans of the original. Despite this, Infinite Burst warrants existing because of a single new mode that is so endlessly captivating.

Bullet Soul Infinite Burst doesn't reinvent the bullet hell wheel, but it offers a very approachable game for newcomers, as well as a highly addictive gameplay loop for those who get sucked in. It may not be a classic, but it's certainly good fun.
