Legends of Eisenwald is a tactical RPG that gets fast turn-based tactical combat right, though it fumbles the story.

Atmosphere and a good story make the tactical RPG Legends of Eisenwald a compelling trip back to Germany in the Middle Ages.

Legends of Eisenwald presents players with a game that takes place on a broad canvas without the freedom to dive deep into it. That is not a bad thing but a different approach. Sometimes that is all a player is looking for.

Legends of Eisenwald would have been an incredibly good game had it been made fifteen years ago. The combat mechanics are dated and lack the depth that we see in modern days, whereas the introduction to the mechanics and the exposition of the story are neglectful and unentertaining when we frame it in modern-day game storytelling.
