It takes something special to stand out in the ever-growing auto-running platformer genre, but ATOMIK: RunGunJumpGun does so with aplomb, copious deaths and a healthy dash of that "just one more time" mentality that'll keep you coming back for more. From its pulse-pounding post-apocalyptic world to its powerful soundtrack, the hours will melt away as you try and collect every last bauble or at the very least just try and make it to the goal unscathed. If brutal arcade-like experiences sound like your cup of tea, you can't go wrong with ATOMIK: RunGunJumpGun.

If you're a fan of autorunners and fancy a good challenge then ATOMIK: RunGunJumpGun might be just what you need. The game is great on Switch when playing at home or on the go, but I did favor playing this one while in Portable mode for most of my time with the game. I definitely recommend this one since the gameplay mechanics make it an easy game to pick up and play, and a very addictive arcade-style release.

Despite its nice graphics, ATOMIK: RunGunJumpGun is a shooter that should had offered a more interesting and complex gameplay in order to justify the several challenges (which are unnecessarily difficult) created by ThirtyThree.

As far as auto-runners go, ATOMIK: RunGunJumpGun is solid. It does not really do anything to win over anyone to partake in games like this but will be worth having around when there are a lot of guests around and can be a DJ understudy for the soundtrack alone. Maybe if the art was repurposed for a more interesting genre, ATOMIK could have been a real winner. Only fans of auto-runners need apply - for everyone else, just go and buy the soundtrack instead.

The big bummer is that it took only a few hours to fully complete the roughly 100 levels in the package. An endless mode would made me really happy, and would've made ATOMIK something I could return to. Still, what's here is made with care, making for an enjoyable experience.

I found ATOMIK: RunGunJumpGun to be fine, there's a decent amount of gameplay here yet I still would have liked something more to it.

Even though you’re hurtling through the levels, you’ll appreciate the package. Clever levels, obstacles and enemies, all polished with visual splendour and pumping music, ATOMIK: RunGunJumpGun is designed to a tee. And if you’re after every Atomix, it’s a hefty challenge that’ll take you some time. You will feel physically and mentally exhausted, but you will not stop playing. We promise you this – your pulse will be raised.

All said Atomik isn’t a very complicated game, it simply sets the stage for its mechanics and then explores them to their fullest. For it being so simple an idea on paper it is actually remarkable how much is done with it, and in general on each world new wrinkles and variations are added to the mix to differentiate them. Depending on how many spheres you’re determined to collect you can essentially control the difficulty yourself and if you find you’re in need of more spheres you can always choose to go back for more later. Set up very well for quick pick up and play game sessions it’s a great fit for the Switch.
