Critic Reviews for BAFL - Brakes Are For Losers
Brakes Are For Losers has some interesting ideas, but the entire package simply does not match the quality of certain other recent releases on the Switch eShop under this same genre.
Brakes are for Losers is a fun throwback to the racing games of yore. Fans of RC Pro Am or Super Sprint ought to feel right at home once they stop freaking out about having a basic racing control pulled out from under them. Single player has a number of good modes for practicing, but the game really comes to life in multiplayer. If you are like me and are constantly on the lookout for local multiplayer titles, this is an inexpensive way to add a fun title to your library.
Breaks are for Losers is a fun racing game with a rather original concept and which allows for an entertaining experience thanks to its simple and direct gameplay. It doesn't go much further than that and quickly enough its limitations become all too obvious, as the game starts losing appeal on the short-term and it will make its players feel less compelled to return to it.

Brakes Are For Losers is like a toy you find in a Happy Meal. A cheap distraction good for a few minutes of entertainment. It's not meant to be played on its own. Instead, it is at best the sort of game that you mess around with for ten minutes while cooling off between sessions with meatier games. BAFL is reasonably fun, but a novelty at best.
Brakes are for Losers is an adequately fun time with friends if you've got four to eight people ready to play, but it unfortunately crashes into a wall with single-player content.
If you want a fun, pretty mindless party game for you and your friends, it's not the worst choice. It's fun, but short on gas.
All in all, Brakes Are For Losers is a fun retro-inspired arcade racer. It doesn't excel anywhere, but it doesn't have to. It's a decent enough experience at a very low price point in case you're craving an isometric racing frenzy.
Between unlocking more tracks, beating your high scores and showing off against your friends, you'll keep coming back for more.
