Zen Pinball 2: Portal Pinball Reviews
With tons of references and entertaining gameplay, Portal Portal is a great new table. It's a little thin on content and will require the purchase of either Zen Pinball 2 or Pinball FX2 to play it, however, so it's an investment that those coming only for the Portal aspect might need to rationalize.
Zen Pinball 2: Portal Pinball is a marvellous experience which makes you want to pull out the Portal games and play them all over again. Zen Pinball fans can absolutely download Portal Pinball with confidence but even those looking to travel down the Portal memory lane will get a kick out of this table. As Wheatley notes, "That's tremendous!" And so is this pinball game.
It takes a bit of skill to get the entire thing down, but Portal Pinball is a solid table for sure that I think Zen Pinball fans will enjoy. I recommend picking this one up.
Portal Pinball is definitely an excellent addition to the Zen Pinball 2 lineup, but that is based purely on its solid pinball mechanics and roots. The Portal aspect comes across as nothing more than cosmetic, which seems like a lost opportunity.
It's not quite a triumph, but Zen Pinball 2's Portal table is a stand out in the series' expansive table list. While there may not be enough meat here to thrill Portal fans with a passing fancy for virtual pinball, it's definitely a solid choice for anyone who has enjoyed Zen Pinball 2's other games.
Besides some balancing issues that can be justified in teaching newcomers the ropes, Zen Pinball 2: Portal is a wonderful table and should be a natural starting point for any new pinball player's career towards the more challenging tables out there.
Zen Pinball 2's latest table is definitely one of the most exciting ones so far, bringing some seriously challenging and pretty complex mechanics, while also managing to be enjoyable if you don't really care about your score.
