Rival Megagun Reviews
By mixing the shooter genre will the old versus fighting mechanics, Rival Megagun delivers an interesting experience that might seem curious players looking for an brand new old-school experience. With its tiny roster falling short, Rival Megagun will still deliver fun duels, thanks to its fury jauge that will make each fight different and interesting. Too bad its short solo mode and terrible character design weighs down the game, which still delivers beautiful 2D sprites and background.

Rival Megagun may fall short of the standards set by genre masterworks like Cave's Ketsui, Seibu Kaihatsu's Raiden Fighters Jet or Raizing's Battle Garegga. But those are some of the finest pieces of game design of all time, and failing to meet their lofty standards doesn't stop Spacewave's creation being a tremendously fun and rather distinct shmup that really does offer something fresh, and serves as a great demonstration of the Switch's multiplayer prowess in the process.
Rival Megagun is absolutely one of the best shoot'em up in recent generations specially if you play it co-op, because it's the way that you see all potential of this game. Although Rival Megagun is not your game if you are looking for a deep story and narrating or best graphics, but it brings you a lot of fun and joy when playing it solo or co-op with friends. Rival Megagun is a game that worth your time to try.

Rival Megagun offers a fast and shallow single-player campaign. Unfortunately, the offline mode offers nothing that causes the player to stick to it. In contrast, online and local Versus mode significantly expand the fun of the title, which will depend on the game's success and an active online community.

Rival Megagun is a fun, frantic bullet hell game with a unique competitive mechanic. The retro-inspired art style is pixel-perfect, which is paired with an equally retro soundtrack. Each character's campaign may be short at just a handful of levels apiece, but there are six characters, each with different weapons and strategies to employ. Online multiplayer support, plus various collectibles and unlocks only seal the deal. Retro fans should pick up Rival Megagun without hesitation.
If the concept of a competitive shoot 'em up appeals to you then Rival Megagun is definitely a solid choice.
Rival Megagun deftly changes up the shmup formula while effortlessly nailing the basics. PVP is a game changer, and while more characters and stages would be welcome, what is here provides a compelling competitive challenge that places an emphasis on both defense and offense.
Games like Twinkle Star Sprites occupied a space within the shooter genre that doesn’t get a whole lot of attention – the competitive shooter. Those games stood out because they dared to be different and put a weird spin on the genre and I always wondered why more developers didn’t try and expand on the ideas that game brought to the table. Rival Megagun seems to do just that. It took elements from it and delivers a package that is not only fun, but offers something you don’t often see. For $14.99, some may say that the game is lacking in content, but personally it was so much fun to play, I felt it worth the price of admission. This is the kind of game I can come back to or would want to show my friends because I can see us having a ton of fun playing.
Rival Megagun is a great indie and nostalgic game to enjoy playing with your friend or family member. Graphics are eye-catching and the gameplay is totally responsive.
