Reforged is an uninspiring remaster, but Warcraft 3 itself is still a great game nearly two decades later.
An inexplicably careless remaster, where none of the changes are unequivocally for the better and the experience is brought down further by numerous bugs and missing features.
Warcraft III was a great game, but I struggle to find a reason to return to it in this form. Reforged has a laundry list of bugs, lack of polish, multiplayer options markedly amiss from the original offering, and uninspiring new assets
I brought up "the old Blizzard" in this review because this is a first time in a while (yes, even counting Diablo III at launch) that you can really sense a huge shift at the company in just about every sense. Warcraft III: Reforged is both the beginning and end of an era. It works to a degree thanks to the immense talent of the original Warcraft III creators and custom map fiends, but it doesn't quite feel like Blizzard, does it.
Warcraft III was a great RTS, and Warcraft III Reforged still is, but has a lot of issues. All races are balanced and the campaign is epic, but this remastered version has a number of issues that cannot be ignored, such as disconnecting from multiplayer or options that were in the original and gone in Reforged.

Warcraft III: Reforged is built upon such strong foundations, yet manages to be somewhat unremarkable in 2020, mired by technical hiccups and Blizzard's clumsy messaging.
Warcraft III: Reforged still delivers the same satisfying core gameplay and laudable campaigns, but Blizzard under-delivered on promises and removed features that made the original game something exceptional.
