Critic Reviews for World of Tanks
World of Tanks might have a silly name, but it does something impressive. It manages to straddle pure tank simulation and shooter action to produce something that, despite being flawed, remains genuinely fun.
The game is progressing well and constantly seeing new maps and new tanks added, with a whole slew of French units soon to be released.
When it comes to blowing up military monstrosities, no game does it better than World of Tanks.
World of Tanks is an entertaining and enjoyable tactical shooter with a surprising amount of depth. If you're not prepared to pony up some cash, it does become a grind eventually – but if you reach that point and you still want to play, spending some money is very likely a worthwhile investment.
With new content coming out on a regular basis, I foresee myself being a tank jockey for a long time!
World of Tanks won't ever be more than a quick detour on the way to something that's easier to comprehend.
The fighting, all live online, is generally fast, furious and terrific fun and while some of the early vehicles available represent clunky first world war relics, after levelling-up better models become available for purchase having acquired the necessary experience points and in-game currency.
World of Tanks stands out from the majority of free-to-play games by being tactically deep and generally quite different to the norm. There's nothing new for existing players, and there's a lack of game modes that could impair the longevity of your time with it, but World of Tanks is a fine blend of simulation and competitive multiplayer that's well worth checking out.
