Pokémon Champions is bringing major changes to the world of competitive Pokémon, and fans are split on whether they'll be good for the community. The upcoming Switch and mobile game will allow players to engage in casual and ranked battles against trainers from around the world.
According to leaked information by Centro Leaks on X (formerly Twitter), Pokémon Champions will use a new form of the stat formula that calculates a Pokémon's battle characteristics. The headline is that Effort Values (EVs) are gone, replaced by a new figure called Stat Points (SP), which will change how Pokémon are shared between games.
The new stat formula for Pokémon Champions does away with EVs, hidden stats previously distributed to Pokémon based on the battles they participated in. For example, if your Pokémon battles a Geodude, which ordinarily have high Defense, they'll get EVs that boost their own defense in future battles.
