If you forgot that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake exists, I don't blame you in the slightest. After all, it's been five years since it was announced, and we haven't heard any significant updates.
According to the Chief Creative Officer of Saber Interactive, Tim Willits, however, it's still happening. Speaking to IGN, he shared a brief update, noting that this project hasn't been canceled...yet.
For half a decade, fans have been wondering whether Aspyr (under the parent company of Saber) will actually get this project out the door. Amid tons of rumors and speculation that the project has been canceled, it's evidently still happening, according to a studio head honcho. According to Willits, it's definitely still happening: "Yes, it is still in development. That's all I can say." It's a short and sweet update, but it's all we have for now.
IGN also notes that, according to a report, Aspyr is allegedly no longer in charge of the remake, and that those duties have been handed over to Mad Head Games. Apparently, KOTOR 2 plans are also possibly in the works, according to Lucasfilm Games vice president Douglas Reilly:
