All four major studios responsible for developing Battlefield 6 have been hit with layoffs. DICE, Criterion Games, Ripple Effect Studios, and Motive Studio – collectively known as Battlefield Studios – beat Call of Duty in sales for the first time in the two franchises' long history, but are all affected by layoffs handed down by parent company Electronic Arts nonetheless.
Despite Battlefield 6 support still ongoing, EA has undertaken a "realignment" at Battlefield Studios, with "an unknown number of individuals" affected, according to IGN. In a statement to IGN, an EA spokesperson said the company is "continuing to invest in the franchise" amid these layoffs. The full scope of the cuts remains unclear, but they appear to be spread throughout numerous teams within each development house.
Battlefield 6 was, at least publicly, touted and received as the series' much-needed comeback after the disappointment of Battlefield 2042.
