MindsEye may seem like a flop to you (and, indeed, to most right-thinking people), but according to Build a Rocket Boy CEO Mark Gerhard, the game's sales are increasing, and he's still alleging some of the game's negative reception was "orchestrated".
Gerhard makes these claims in a new interview with Games Beat's Dean Takahashi, wherein he also admits that MindsEye suffered "the worst launch in history". That honestly feels like a bit of an understatement to me.
According to Gerhard, however, MindsEye's fortunes are turning around; the game is now "being very well-reviewed", he says. I'm not entirely sure where he means to suggest that's happening, though; over on Steam, the game still has a Mixed rating, even across 91 recent reviews.
Gerhard also says that MindsEye sales are "doubling almost weekly", which feels like a strange claim to make. Steam numbers aren't everything, of course, but at time of writing, seven people are playing MindsEye, with the game's 24-hour player peak reaching just 16 on Steam.
Of course, it's possible that sales of the game had completely dried up, and that Gerhard's claim is still technically correct. After all, if one person buys a game one...
