Peak is quite possibly the quintessential friendslop game. It's made to be enjoyed with your mates, maybe a few times a year when you all get together, and for the vast majority of people, that's probably where their Peak experience ends. There isn't a lot to it. You just climb a big mountain and extract at the end.
However, there does seem to be numerous people out there that would like to see Peak updated forever, most likely thanks to the rise in live service multiplayer games. If a multiplayer game isn't getting an update every other month, it's declared dead and a failure.
Landfall Games has stressed time and time again that Peak is not a live service game, and that neither it nor publisher Aggro Crab are live service developers. That's why, despite launching in 2025, Peak won't be getting any more updates after this year, as Landfall wants to move onto something new. A completely understandable thing to do.
