Super Mario creator and Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto thinks that Mario has finally become more of a "person" thanks to Illumination's movies, and fans aren't exactly happy to hear that.
Although the Mario games are typically very light on plot and mostly just give the mustachioed plumber any excuse to hop between worlds, it's not like Mario himself doesn't have a ton of personality. All of the games show him to be courageous, kind, and adventurous, with some, like Super Mario RPG, even making him a bit of an oddball.
Mario may not say much, but he's still a defined character that millions have fallen in love with in the 40 years since he was introduced. Despite this, Mario's creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, recently spoke about Mario as a character and shared how he feels the movies have made him become more of a "person".
