Krafton has announced that it's shutting down top-down tactical shooter PUBG: Blindspot less than two months after the game first landed on Steam in Early Access.
Blindspot was released on February 5th, but over the weekend, Sequoia Yang of developer ARC Team announced the game's shutdown, which was set for the unusually close date of March 30th (that's today, by the way).
By way of a reason for the closure, Yang said that although the team had "been exploring multiple ways" to improve PUBG: Blindspot, the devs found that they were "no longer able to sustainably provide the level of experience [they] set out to deliver through Early Access".
Yang continues by saying that PUBG: Blindspot was "a bold attempt to explore new possibilities within the top-down tactical shooter space", and that ARC intends to "return with new experiences in the future" after taking some time to "regroup".
A quick look at Blindspot's Steam numbers might fill in the blanks here. At launch, the game attracted just over 3,000 players at its peak, but the player count quickly dwindled, with Blindspot reaching a 24-hour peak of just 236 players yesterday.
If PUBG: Blindspot had managed...
