Square Enix Settles Harrassment Case With “Personal Apology” From The Accused

Early last year, Square Enix published its Group Customer Harassment Policy, following a spate of online attacks against its developers and cast, including Final Fantasy 14's Wuk Lamat actress Sena Bryer. The policy threatened to "cease providing support services or to refrain from providing our group's products and services" to those accused, and also "take legal action or criminal proceedings" against anyone with such malicious intent.

Last month, we saw the first case of this policy in action, with Square forcing a Final Fantasy 14 blog, notable for harassing its team, to shut down. Now, the company's rampage continues, with a content creator forced to issue an apology and pay a fine, following "videos posted on video-sharing platforms that include content lowering the social reputation of our company."

"We have taken further action regarding videos posted on video-sharing platforms that include content lowering the social reputation of our company and related parties of Final Fantasy XIV," said Square Enix in a statement on social media (via Game Spark in Japan).
