Games led by Hideo Kojima always have a great cast, and that was true long before his studio was scanning Hollywood stars for Death Stranding. 1998's Metal Gear Solid introduced us to characters that we'd love for years, played by actors who brought them to life - and many of them worked under pseudonyms.
1998 was a very different time, with video game performances not given the respect they deserved. In fact, the actors had to use these false names because SAG-AFTRA was unsure where video game performances fell into the realm of acting, and the cast didn't want to get in trouble. But even so, the cast was still there: David Hayter, Cam Clarke, Debi Mae West, and many more.
Many would come back for future instalments, but according to Hayter, that almost wasn't the case. While he was always going to be invited to come back for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, he had to fight to make sure the rest of the cast got the same treatment.
