As they prepare for the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have taken action to remove competition of community hosted multiplayer servers, this time taking down RAGE:MP, in a process that will unfold over the next few months.
According to RAGE:MP, following the terms of the structured shutdown they are following at Take-Two's request following a cease and desist, starting today there will be no new community servers accepted onto RAGE:MP, and they have ended public access to their server toolkit. As of this morning, there were 288 servers running via RAGE:MP all of which can be expected to be impacted by the next steps.
On June 1st, the public list of servers will be shutdown and will no longer be accessible for players. People running servers or playing on them will need to have information down down by then or else they may find themselves unable to gain access to the servers for the next couple of months. All community services and servers supported by RAGE:MP will go offline on August 31, 2026, and after that date the game client, server toolkit, and backend infrastructure will be shutdown, and no longer available...
