The rumors are true: a new The Witcher 3 expansion is coming and CD Projekt Red revealed it today. The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past will be the third expansion for the acclaimed Polish RPG and the first since 2016's Blood and Wine.
In The Witcher 3 Songs of the Past players will take up the role of Geralt of Rivia once more, but little is known about what we can expect in the expansion at this point, with CD Projekt Red saying we can expect to learn more later this summer, perhaps at events like Gamescom. This expansion is being co-developed by CD Projekt Red and Fool's Theory, a studio that was formed by former CD Projekt Red developers following the release of The Witcher 3.
According to the announcement, Songs of the Past is targeting a 2027 release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is apparently leaving behind last-generation systems, and at this time there is no native Switch 2 version of The Witcher 3, though that might change over the summer.
