The Dragon Ball franchise has covered a lot of ground since its inception, with the Dragon Ball manga starting serialization in 1984 and Dragon Ball Z kicking off in 1989. Plenty of that time was spent on characters powering up, of course, but there's a reason why fans have stayed engaged with the series through all of those years.

While Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama sadly passed away in 2024, his creative output hasn't been exhausted quite yet. The next big Dragon Ball release is bringing the series into a new era, introducing an original character created by Toriyama himself alongside other debuts.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 unveiled a new trailer this week, introducing the setting of West City in AGE 1000. This places the game over 200 years after the events of Dragon Ball Z, which takes place in the mid-to-late eighth century. While the game will naturally be introducing plenty of new characters, Bulma and Gamma 1 both appear as familiar faces in the trailer.
