With Animal Crossing: New Horizons going on to break multiple records back in 2020, it is no wonder that Nintendo still wants to capitalize on its success in every way other than giving fans some new content. OK, I am slightly bitter over the lack of post-game updates for the latest Animal Crossing entry, but at least there is something else to look forward to in the meantime.
Releasing at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Animal Crossing: New Horizons became a lifeline for many gamers who were left consigned to their homes during lockdown. Allowing those who owned the game to be able to travel to each other's islands and spend time together meant a lot to many, so it was no surprise that Nintendo reported that New Horizons had reached over 47 million copies sold worldwide, and even broke the console game record for most digital units sold in a single month.
