Call of Duty’s New Ban Policy Removes Thousands of Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 Cheaters

For the last few weeks, the Call of Duty series has been receiving a major backlash for its large number of cheaters. Luckily, an update to the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system put a stop to all these shenanigans.

With the changes to RICOCHET's detection targeting, the COD team removed thousands of problematic players from Warzone and Modern Warfare 3.

The main issues started with one of the recent Xbox Game Pass updates. On July 2024, COD: Modern Warfare 3 was added to the library, which led to Microsoft Store PC users being mistakenly tagged as Xbox users.

This allowed them to circumvent the standard RICOCHET protection and the use of prohibited software. Each player coming from the Microsoft Store was tagged as an Xbox player within the COD multiplayer lobby.

The good news is that the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat team was quick to act. It took these experts less than two weeks to completely patch the issue, making it easier for the system to differentiate between PC and Xbox players.
