DarkZero's Reviews

As mentioned above the game is only about 3 hours long and unless you want to get an S rank on all 9 stages on all difficulties there’s really no reason to replay it at all.

Storm of Spears is an epic, well written adventure that any fan of classic RPG’s would enjoy. The intriguing story will hook you into the world of the game while the well-balanced combat and expansive game map will keep you playing until the end. Despite the quests being sometimes difficult to navigate, Storm of Swords is a game that has something for everybody. Did I mention that you ride around on a dragon? Yeah, you get to do that too.

8 / 10 - Shoppe Keep
Jun 14, 2016

I would say if you enjoy business simulations in general, or if you’ve ever wondered what life is like on the other side of the sword counter, then you should give Shoppe Keep a try.

Simply put, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is the most complete package for one of the most celebrated entries in the series. Not everything included has stood up to the test of time, but the sentiment of the whole being better than the sum of its parts describes this HD collection perfectly.

With nothing that stands out too much in the sound or art department besides, for some reason, making me feel nostalgic for Wild 9 on the original Playstation, what we have here is a fun game that can be mastered and beaten relatively quickly.

Table Top Racing: World Tour’s transition to PC was a disappointment for me, especially since the things that inspire this game should have made it such a blast to play.

As a horror experience, Corpse Party is absolutely mandatory, and should be experienced in whatever platform that is available to you. If possible, however, the PSP version is still the definitive experience, and scales perfectly on the Playstation TV if you also happen to own one of those. Otherwise, the PC version is still a solid experience on its own despite lacking the improved sound design and artwork of its portable follow-up.

8 / 10 - Stellaris
May 30, 2016

Not for me, though. I sunk more than 24 hours of gameplay into my first week with Stellaris. An entire day! With more than 500 hours clocked on CKII, I'm clearly susceptible to this sort of thing – but the fact is, Paradox have done it again. Stellaris is already a deep, compelling and hugely atmospheric game of strategy on a galactic scale. It'll only get better as time goes on – and I'm thrilled to see where it'll go next.

8-Bit Armies minimalistic approach to real-time strategy makes it a good gateway for people wanting to sample the genre, enabling those to get in and instantly pick up the game without worrying about complexity.

For better or worse we live in a world where endless arcade games are a hot commodity and a vice even the most casual gamer has indulged in for hours more than expected.

Doom is a big name in gaming history, and this new entry offers a great and faithful encapsulation of its predecessors fast-passed shooting, trademark gore and infamous demons.

Naughty Dog continue to be the best example as to what the artists and engineers in the industry can constantly strive for, and their send off to the poster boy of PlayStation is a feat only matched by their own previous titles.

5 / 10 - Flat Kingdom

In all, it was a decent attempt at a new concept but didn’t quite ever make it further than that.

In the end, MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune vs Zombies is a mediocre action game where its charm and variety rests squarely on its characters.

Valkyria Chronicles received a lot of acclaim during its PS3 debut, and its praises must be sung again in this remastered port. Whatever Sega decides to do with the franchise from here on remains unclear, but at least fans new and old can enjoy one of their finest efforts in the last generation, not to mention one of the single best RPGs period.

7 / 10 - Battleborn
May 17, 2016

Battleborn isn't quite the innovative blend of MOBA and first-person shooter that it could have been, but that does not stop the game from delivering fun with a group of friends or random people online.

All in all, Hyperdevotion Noire is a decent sidetrack from the standard Neptunia games, but it could have used a bit more streamlining and quality-of-life mechanics to bring it up to current SRPG titles. [OpenCritic note: Jorge S Fernandez separately reviewed the PC (6) and Vita (7) versions. Their scores have been averaged.]

Finally, there’s the simple fact that this is an economic strategy game. As such, it’s automatically going to have a rather niche appeal – but I really do hope people give it a chance. This isn’t a dry and cerebral experience: there’s action, passion and nail-biting tension. Surprisingly accessible and deep as you like, Offworld Trading Company is a standout addition to what’s already been a fantastic year for strategy games.
