7 / 10.0 - Stella Glow
Nov 13, 2015

Ultimately, I would say that Stella Glow is a great game if you're dying for a new strategy game to play through, but if you're on the fence about it, you'll likely not be missing much if you pass on it.

9 / 10.0 - Mushihimesama
Nov 6, 2015

Mushihimesama is an incredibly fun shooter with tight controls, a lot of challenge, great audiovisual style and astonishing bullet patterns. If there's one thing to complain about, it's the relatively high price tag.

It's a pity that the failings of this game will probably discourage any real development on future hardcore D&D CRPGs. Other than Trent Oster & Beamdog's upcoming Baldur's Gate "1.5" sequel, there isn't likely to be much in the way of good news for fans of the license.

If you're a fan of Transformers or even a Platinum games fan, I'd recommend picking it up. If you're looking for something with more complexity to it, you might want to wait for a sale to come up before you consider buying it.

Ultimately, this is one game that’s difficult to judge fairly, and is really going to depend on the person playing. However, the game is definitely a study rhythm game with plenty of merit to warrant picking it up if you’re a fan of Persona games, or even if you just want another rhythm game to play.

If you're a MGS purist, buy it on sale. If you're simply looking for an engaging stealth/action experience, you'd be doing yourself a major disservice if you steered clear of The Phantom Pain.

5.5 / 10.0 - Armikrog
Oct 2, 2015

Ultimately, Armikrog is a failure, but it's not a failure that is supposed to be hated with a fiery passion or forgotten about. If Pencil Test Studios learn their lesson, it can be a launching point for a better game that fully realizes their potential. For the player though, the best choice would be to stick with good, old Neverhood.

Ultimately, Ultra Despair Girls is a good follow up to the previous Danganronpa games. It still carries a consistent tone throughout, and the writing is as good as ever.  And don’t let the game’s design fool you – despite being an action title, Ultra Despair Girls is just as heavy on text as the previous games. Thankfully, the story is the best part, so making your way through all the text never feels like a chore. And, despite a few issues here and there, this is still a Danganronpa game, and worth your time.

So, should you buy Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance? Well, if you're already a fan of the series, I'm sure you knew you were going to purchase this the moment it was announced. However, if you're just getting into strategy RPGs, I'd still recommend Disgaea 1 over this title.

5 / 10.0 - Victor Vran
Sep 2, 2015

I would only recommend Victor Vran to people who despise the complexity in those games and want something a bit more "introductory" in design.

Ultimately, Onechanbara Z2 Chaos is just a fun game. There isn't anything particularly notable about it, but it's fun to play through and mess around with. Unfortunately, it doesn't do anything well enough to rise out of mediocrity, despite having enough potential to do so. It just screams cheesy chanbara B movie.

All in all, it's hard to find much to complain about in Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold. A competent story, engrossing and deep gameplay, lovely artwork/graphics, and a divine soundtrack are a few things to look forward to when purchasing this game. There are a few minor hangups, mainly the lack of dual-audio, (and the fact that day-one DLC might upset some folks out there) but as a whole, Untold 2 is without a doubt one of the best games on the 3DS right now.

8 / 10.0 - Sorcerer King
Jul 29, 2015

Overall, Sorcerer King is a good game that brings much-needed variety to the fantasy 4X genre. While it's not perfect, playing it is a lot of fun. Hopefully, Stardock will provide more content with the upcoming expansion packs, and other developers will take notice and explore the potential new genre of 'asymmetric 4X.'

All in all, Heavensward made for a great expansion for the game, and is a great springboard for things to come.

Galactic Civilizations 3 is a solid turn-based strategy with a great potential. Unfortunately, right now it just doesn't do enough to surpass its predecessors and distinguish itself from competitors. It's a good game, sure – but it does feel like an enhanced remake of Galactic Civilizations 2 rather than a full-fledged sequel.

Overall, it's hard to find much to hate about Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker. The combat is satisfying and complex. The story is deep, with rich characters, and a plot that you actually change with your decisions throughout the game. The demon fusion system is improved over that of the previous entry in the Devil Survivor series, and the exclusive features that come with the new version give it much more content than the vanilla game. If you're looking for a quality RPG to sink a hundred or so hours into, and you own a 3DS, buy this game.

8.5 / 10.0 - Omega Quintet
Apr 30, 2015

I was surprised by Omega Quintet, and extremely happy to say that this game has fixed a lot of those particular issues in my experience. Omega Quintet still has its flaws – mainly involving story and battle balancing – but it's one of the better titles that I've played from them and enjoyed. This game is a very welcoming addition to the Playstation 4's library and I really hope any avid JRPG player will enjoy this title.

9.5 / 10.0 - Pillars of Eternity
Apr 8, 2015

With its well fleshed-out world and clever twist on classic Dungeons & Dragons-style rules, Pillars of Eternity could be the next big RPG series that people have been wanting from the genre for the past decade. As for me, I'm already working on a second trip and still gloating over the success of my dwarven Paladin to anyone who will listen.
