4.1 / 5.0 - Mega Man 11
Oct 17, 2018

Mega Man 11 is both the most accessible entry in the franchise to date and the most demanding, due to the difficulty options and challenge modes. The Blue Bomber makes good on his return with classic platforming and skirmishes with rogue robots augmented by the addition of the Double Gear System, affecting both how you approach the game and how the boss battles unfold by allowing for different forms throughout.

The World Ends with You: Final Remix on the Nintendo Switch is an interesting game and although I had fun playing it, the title did feel a little dated when compared to other titles on this console. Personally, I would have fine-tuned the combat a little better on the Nintendo Switch and I know that the developers were being innovative but the touch screen and the Joy-Con felt a little limited into what you can and can't achieve. Nonetheless, The World Ends with You: Final Remix is an interesting yet enjoyable JRPG experience on this console, although a little lacking.

Strangely enough, I like quite a few elements of Immortal: Unchained; the deeper focus on story is personally welcomed, even if admittedly it got a little confusing at times, and the level design is honestly some of the best I've seen in a Soulslike experience that didn't come from From themselves.

Moss previously showed players that PSVR experiences didn't have to necessarily be first person only and Astro Bot Rescue Mission exemplifies this mentality, taking things one step further than the more diorama-esque levels of the aforementioned title by placing players directly inside the levels themselves.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is an excellent port to an already incredible game. Unfortunately, we might need to track down the Dragon Balls to resurrect the already dwindling online community.

Super Mario Party is, without doubt, the best entry in the series since the days of the GameCube. It's stellar presentation, kooky sense of humour and fantastic mini-games make it for an exceptionally fun party game. Also in the game's favour is that there is variation in the game mode's hitherto unseen in a Mario Party. The game is plagued by a lacking amount of boards and a sometimes painfully slow pace but on the whole, there's a fantastic multiplayer experience in there. This entry is good fun, but the foundations are there to make something sublime with a sequel. If some form of enticing single player is added and the bumps present here are ironed out, a Super Mario Party 2 could be something special.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a huge leap forward for the series towards a deeper action role-playing experience. The sheer ambition and amount of content available in Ubisoft's latest historical sandbox – quests, NPCs, side-activities, collectibles, historical landmarks, locations and secrets –  is staggering, and it's easy to get immersed in what is a truly spectacular open-world rendition of Ancient Greece, the Aegean Sea and its many different islands and warring states. This latest entry will especially resonate best if you enjoyed the different direction last year's Origins took.

5 / 5.0 - Forza Horizon 4
Oct 2, 2018

It's great that Playground Games have not rested on their laurels but have created a game that not only looks amazing but more importantly plays well on the Xbox One/X. The gameplay mechanics work well and whether you're playing this online or offline, there's plenty to do and see. Given how much fun I've had with Forza Horizon 4, it will definitely become my go to game in the months to come, especially with its online component. So if you're looking for some racing fun that packs a punch, Forza Horizon 4 is definitely that game!

With Valkyria Chronicles 4, Sega have succeeded in creating a true sequel to the original. The game offers strong, polished gameplay, a good amount of customisation and some likeable characters, but a few clunky choices and pacing problems do hold it back from fulfilling its potential.
