Ori and the Blind Forest is arguably the best game of 2015 so far. Visually it is gorgeous and has a beautiful soundtrack to complement it. The lack of load times helps the flow of the game, and the platforming gameplay is fluent and precise all the way through. Difficulty spikes bring a challenging edge, and the escape sections are some of the most hectic portions of any platformer game. Ultimately, I cannot recommend this game enough, it is a must play.
If you enjoyed The Evil Within, "The Assignment" offers plenty of bang for your buck and definitely leaves you anticipating what more is to come in the second expansion, which will also focus on Kidman, "The Consequence".
LA Cops has the feel of a casual game that you can blast through quickly and give your achievement score a quick boost. In some ways, it is a little frustrating as you feel that with a little more fine tuning and the inclusion of multiplayer it could have been a great, fun, little game, but as it is, it falls a little short of that.
If you are a fan of puzzle games, then Shiftlings is definitely worthy of a purchase. At £13.99, you are getting over 50 levels to explore, and that will be more than worth your money if you aim to complete the game and all of its achievements. What Shiftlings brings to the Xbox One is a puzzler that is both fun and funny all the way through, with levels that can accommodate both casual and hardcore puzzle gamers. So take a chance on a couple of aliens, I doubt you'll be disappointed.
The survival horror genre has struggled to find a place in recent years, but titles such as The Evil Within have attempted to breathe new life into it. With White Night, OSome Studio has managed to invigorate the genre by taking us back to the methodical and tense gameplay that kept us on edge so many times in the past. When playing the game for subsequent playthroughs, you will undeniably blaze through it, but hasn't that always been the case with survival horror games? The art style is beautifully unique, the gameplay is simple yet highly enjoyable and the soundtrack is superb. The reason you'll want to stay inside this mansion, though, is because of the history behind it. A compelling story is waiting to be unearthed and the more you learn, the deeper you'll want to go. The ID@Xbox lineup continues to get stronger and its latest addition is unquestionably worth checking out.
It's hard to knock a game that delivers on what it set out to do, and that's exactly what Zombie Army Trilogy does very well. It won't appeal to everyone's tastes, but for those of you that enjoy the frantic co-op action that games of this nature provide, you'll find that Zombie Army Trilogy is a competent shooter, that will keep you entertained for hours of zombie killing fun.
After looking at what Pneuma: Breath of Life has to offer, is it worth keeping an eye on? For the most part, yes. It is a well crafted adventure and a lot of love has gone into creating a unique take on the puzzle genre. The game's one character is interesting to listen to and the topic is something that is rarely discussed in the gaming industry. While puzzle fans will find enjoyment here, fast-paced gamers and those looking for something a bit more beefy in content may not find it as worthwhile. The ID@Xbox games that have been released so far have all had their quirks, and Pneuma: Breath of Life definitely deserves its place within the library.
Hand of Fate is a shining example of what ID@Xbox can bring to the console. The game's ability to provide the same gameplay over and over again, while still making every encounter feel fresh and challenging, is what makes the experience completely addictive. I was so sucked into the game that I literally got off my couch and sat cross-legged in front of the TV so that I could concentrate more. For those who thrash through the game's Story mode, the never-ending Endless mode provides an extra challenge to see just how far you can go. I have a distinct feeling that this game will remain installed on many consoles for a long time.
The story may be short and the graphics might not be of the highest quality, but Roundabout is more than worthy of your time.
Blue Estate doesn't try to reinvent rail shooters, but it's very good at being one, and the challenge of getting top ranks on everything will keep players wanting to come back for more.
In summary, this is a neat little puzzle game that will keep puzzle aficionados content. You won't know anything more about the world that you leave behind, nor will you know why you were ever there, but you will be satisfied at a job well done. Even if the journey is a bit short, the easy gamerscore is sure to be a bonus.
Prison life isn't easy, that much I have learned from my time playing The Escapists. This game can be frustrating, make you angry, and want to quit altogether. That is, until that one thing you've been missing finally hits you and you make your escape out of a prison. It's a satisfying feeling that I haven't had from playing recent games. That feeling of accomplishment is one that a lot of mainstream games have lacked for some time. The Escapists, if you have the patience to figure it out without using walkthroughs, will leave you feeling a bit frustrated, but incredibly gratified. In a sea of ID@Xbox titles, The Escapists is one not to be missed.
After such lofty beginnings and ambitiously cutthroat turns, "Episode 2 - The Lost Lords" can only be seen as a letdown.
Dying Light is Techland's best and most ambitious title to date.
It's important to remember that being a standalone expansion, Saints Row: Gat Out Of Hell isn't meant to offer the same full experience we've come to know from the franchise previously. There are a number of features sadly lacking, the main thing being any real mission structure to the story, but the same mayhem-filled gameplay is still there on offer.For a mid-price game, there is more than enough gameplay to get your money's worth, including multiple endings to the story which will add replay value and a map full of collectibles and activities to take part in.If you've not played Saints IV previously, or have but wouldn't mind playing it again, I'd highly recommend picking up the bundle which includes both Saints Row IV: Re-Elected and Gat Out Of Hell to give you the full Saints Row experience. For everyone else, the price point of the title makes it certainly worth a purchase, just don't come in expecting a full blown sequel.
Funk of Titans is not a game that revolutionizes the platformer genre, and it isn't filled with radical new ideas. The levels eventually begin to feel a bit repetitive in nature, and the boss battles are more-or-less carbon copies of one another that provide no real challenge to the player. However, the game also proved to be a relatively enjoyable time, albeit a short one, with its lighthearted theme, and relaxing, swift and fluid gameplay. For platformer fans, it may be just the thing to start off the new year.
For years developers have been hunting the white whale of being the biggest and the best. Like Captain Ahab's fabled story, this hunt can often lead to ruination. Sure you've done a lot of things along the way and certainly have some stories to tell, but The Crew sits as an empty shell, capable of housing so much more.
Experienced Telltale fans and achievement hunters probably know exactly what to expect here; an easy completion. All of the achievements are automatically unlocked through natural progression, so players can sit back, "relax", and "enjoy" the story. And what a story it is. While my ending left my jaw on the floor and a burning desire to "set things right", it held me captivated for just over two hours.
A game meant for few to master but all to enjoy, Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions has brought the best of its storied history with it and by is a series that won't be going away any time soon. Enter a novice, leave a legend and be sure to enjoy every moment along the way. The grid awaits.
Whilst the multiplayer falls short, the co-op and in particular the single player experience is once again brilliantly put together and something gamers shouldn't miss out on.
