9.4 / 10.0 - Horizon Zero Dawn
Mar 22, 2017

Considering this is Guerrilla Games' first open-world title, I must say I’m impressed with what they gave us. Using the full potential of the Decima engine, Guerilla Games was able to show the true power of the Playstation 4.

At $30 you’re looking at game with plenty of replay value, charm, a little frustration, and some amazing creations.

For Dark Souls fans looking for an alternative dungeon runner that is ever so slightly less difficult, Necropolis is a treat.

Dungeon crawler fans will have a ton of simple fun with MeiQ: Labyrinth of Death. Having another good game for the criminally underrated PS Vita is definitely a benefit.

9 / 10.0 - Gears of War 4

The Coalition did a great job with Gears of War 4 and look to be taking the franchise in the right direction; I look forward to seeing what they have planned for Gears of War 5 and Gears of War 6.

It is a great addition to an RPG fans collection though, if they don’t mind a time eater of a game, challenging battles, and the feel of a classic RPG.

Fairy Fencer F Dark Advent Forces feels like a visual novel stapled to a JRPG, making for an odd homunculus that just can’t compete with other titles in the genre. I can only recommend this one to those who already have sunk hundreds of hours into similar games.

Mighty Mophin’ Power Rangers: Mega Battle is not a perfect game. It’s a decent enough multiplayer brawler, but it’s not going to bring new fans to the original series.

6.8 / 10.0 - Rise & Shine

All in all, Rise & Shine is a fairly solid game with only a few flaws. I recommend it to anyone who wants a challenge while also enjoying the many callbacks to the older generations of games.

Overall, if you are a fan of survival horror, I would suggest picking this game up. At $13.99 you won’t find a better horror experience for this price point.

All in all, anyone wanting to know how not to make a platformer should play Rad Rodgers. It's a surprisingly good example of all the wrong ways to go about it. Anyone else should probably avoid this title.

Fate/Extella offers tons of content, but it’s often frustrating content nonetheless.

Star Wars Pinball: Rogue One is yet another of a slew of amazing Zen pinball tables that fans of either Star Wars or Zen’s Pinball FX2 will most likely enjoy. I may have been spoiled in the past by Zen’s typical table packs, allowing me more than one way to experience a franchise, but at $3.99 you’re paying for 3 or 4 plays on a physical pinball machine, only you get to keep this one forever.

8 / 10.0 - The Little Acre
Jan 23, 2017

If you long for the classic adventure games of the past, with an art style that’s a cross between a Don Bluth cartoon and Sam & Max Hit the Road, The Little Acre will leave you with a smile on your face and hoping for a quick sequel.

I think as long as I can physically play games, I’ll be playing the Binding of Isaac, a timeless classic with layers of meaning and importance. Congratulations McMillen, Himsl and the entire Nicalis team, you’ve made a masterpiece.

Shantae: Half Genie Hero is a fun platformer with a lot to love. Shantae continues to prove her worth as an important character in gaming, eager to stand alongside characters like Mario or Mega Man. It’s definitely a game that will stand the test of time, many years from now as a classic.
