New Game Network's Reviews

87 / 100 - Undertale
Sep 28, 2015

The first game in a very long time to put an honest smile on my face. Smart, silly, and unfailingly creative from beginning to end. It's not much of an RPG, but only because it's too busy accomplishing so much more.

SOMA creates a tangible underwater facility with overpowering tension and a haunting atmosphere. It paces the horror carefully and will captivate minds with its narrative.

78 / 100 - Mad Max
Sep 19, 2015

Despite a lack of innovation and some repetition, Mad Max is a consistently entertaining and utterly stunning open world game that will keep you driving late into the night.

Act of Aggression is a visually appealing and well-designed strategy title that stands amid its peers as a worthwhile and slightly flawed throwback to a bygone era.

78 / 100 - NHL 16
Sep 17, 2015

NHL 16 marks what some would call a rebuild year. Most of the content that was inexcusably cut last year is back, but that's about it. The gameplay remains solid, and there is hope that the franchise can finally break away from the past and create something great in the future.

80 / 100 - Satellite Reign
Sep 16, 2015

Digs up a subgenre that hasn't been touched for nearly two decades, turns it around, and aptly demonstrates what we've all been missing out on: a unique tactical stealth-action experience that's at its best when things go off the rails.

The Star Wars property is arguably the most famous universe included in the game thus far, as Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition continues the fairly slow pace of evolving the franchise.

Submerged's beautiful setting and sunken post-apocalyptic world were not enough to offset the absence of combat and challenge.

82 / 100 - Until Dawn
Aug 29, 2015

Until Dawn is a fascinating horror experience, using the creativity of its gameplay to approach the genre in a new and surprising way. It's well-paced and the blending of horror with choice-based gameplay is a fantastic union.

66 / 100 - Volume
Aug 28, 2015

A stealth game built to satisfy the central tenets of the genre in the most discrete, distilled, trimmed-down way possible. Certainly well-crafted, but simply not that engaging.

Trine 3 is fun, but also a step back for the series. While the levels are glorious, the 3D movement is imprecise and the story is incomplete.

63 / 100 - Kyn
Aug 20, 2015

Kyn is a well-conceived, albeit slightly broken, party-based Action RPG that succeeds in creating interesting mission scenarios but struggles at character building and consistently enjoyable combat.

64 / 100 - Victor Vran

Victor Vran offers basic dungeon crawling action with limited replay value. The online portion may be enough to sustain some players.

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is an incredibly engaging piece of fiction. Its investigation into humanity and relationships far exceeds its desire to wow you with action. It is a slow game, a contemplative game, and it's one of my favorites this year.

With troubled multiplayer design and an unwarranted higher price point, Lara Croft's spin-off reputation may have trouble recovering after The Temple of Osiris.
