New Game Network's Reviews

Nero hopes to tell a touching story, but derivative gameplay, woeful technical issues, and a high price tag get in the way.

With Van Helsing III, the franchise stumbles at the final hurdle, failing to capitalize on ideas from its predecessors and even regressing in some areas. While still a competent action-RPG, it is a disappointing finish to a good series.

62 / 100 - Toren
May 21, 2015

It's either going through an identity crisis or in dire need of a chest with a boomerang in it, but for what it's worth, Toren is a strange and beautiful little adventure. Give it a look, but don't expect anything special.

86 / 100 - Invisible Inc.
May 20, 2015

Among the many buttons to be found in gamers' hearts, two very common ones are "Just One More Turn!" and "Don't Let Them See Me." Invisible Inc hits these buttons over and over again, right on the money, and putting triple-A titles to shame in the art of excellent stealth gameplay.

72 / 100 - Project CARS
May 16, 2015

Project Cars offers a racing simulation experience for a very specific audience. It will satisfy the die-hard gearheads, but most players will be dissuaded by inconsistent handing, lack of progression, and a variety of technical issues.

The New Blood is a highly enjoyable old-school expansion that is slightly brought down by a weaker second half and some minor technical issues.

80 / 100 - Broken Age
May 13, 2015

A beautiful, charming and often funny adventure with lovable and believable characters. The gameplay, however, can be a little repetitive, but as a whole, Broken Age is a love letter to point and click fans and an artistic triumph.

84 / 100 - Kalimba
May 8, 2015

A charming platformer that's both tough and fun, Kalimba is a success in almost every aspect.

68 / 100 - Sunless Sea
May 4, 2015

Sunless Sea truly does capture what it must feel like to be a ship's captain on a dark underground ocean - sometimes it feels exciting and wondrous, but usually it feels lethargic and dreary. I should've stayed in London and became a shopkeeper.

74 / 100 - Convoy
May 1, 2015

A bit of muck and rust here and there can't hide the truth: Convoy is a ruthless, colourful, and occasionally very satisfying jaunt across a randomly-generated wasteland. A fine roguelike, especially for FTL fans.

It is nice, refreshing even, to see Assassin's Creed doing something a little different from the norm. But the differences are only skin deep. Much of ACC: China is routine and unpolished, failing to capitalize on an opportunity to stand out from the rest of the series.

80 / 100 - Mortal Kombat X
Apr 24, 2015

There's no arguing Mortal Kombat's timeless design, but the newest entry doesn't attempt to evolve the fighting genre or even the franchise itself. And yet, Mortal Kombat X is a competent fighting game, and it bears the marks of an experienced team that knows how to give their fans what they want.

70 / 100 - Titan Souls
Apr 22, 2015

Painfully unsatisfying for what its ambitions suggest, but a well-crafted boss rush and a solid example of masocore gameplay outside a platforming format nonetheless.

Even with the bugs, Pillars of Eternity is an RPG that any fan of the genre must play. It keeps the old-school mentality of the genre alive, while also offering something fresh and original.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is a fun little title that doesn't bring a ton to the table, but what it does offer, it executes quite well. A good game if you're looking for short bursts of platforming fun, just don't expect anything epic in scope.

87 / 100 - Bloodborne
Apr 5, 2015

If you can get into its bloody, visceral and unforgiving rhythm, Bloodborne grabs and never lets go. Not until you've seen it all and triumphed over every abomination.

With two great new multiplayer modes, solid maps and interesting gadgets, Battlefield Hardline carefully folds a police theme into the franchise. The result is a chaotic and rewarding experience.

76 / 100 - Helldivers
Mar 28, 2015

Helldivers can be quite fun, and the experience is so fine-tuned that the issues it does have - like matchmaking and the occasional frame rate issues - stand out like sore thumbs.

Much more than a pretty face, Ori and the Blind Forest is a remarkably solid – if somewhat disappointingly conventional – Metroidvania with a drop of 90s Nintendo magic flowing in its veins.

50 / 100 - Mario Party 10
Mar 23, 2015

Mario Party 10 is a plumber bash at its most average, and that's a real shame as there still seems to be legs in the idea, if properly handled. As it is, though, you're probably better off rooting out one of the classics.
