Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder still has that fun mix of platforming, racing, and tower defense that I liked about the original but it doesn’t feel that much bigger and different from it.
Whether you a fan of the Yakuza franchise or jumping into this world for the very first time, Judgment shouldn’t be missed.
My Friend Pedro will have you doing a lot of killing over and over but how much and how long you enjoy it will likely differ from person to person. I personally found it to get a little repetitive over time but that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy my time with the game.
The PlayStation VR Crown has just added another valuable jewel to itself with Blood & Truth.
While the story in Unruly Heroes is pretty forgettable the solid platforming, creative level design, and downright gorgeous visuals are worth the price of admission on this one. It won’t wow you with its combat system but the rest of the package just might. This should be on the to-play list for anyone who enjoys platformers.
VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action really impressed me with just how interesting its colorful cast of characters and topics were.
[Observation] tells a captivating, sci-fi story that kept me playing from start to finish in one sitting. Getting to experience it from the view of a space station AI was different from what many other games out there offer and it avoids letting it’s exploratory gameplay grow stale by mixing in interesting and fun puzzle gameplay.
If you want a visual novel with more focus on the actual story then you better look elsewhere.
Black Paradox is a shmup that looks great, sounds great, and plays great but doesn’t reward great. The roguelike elements can really feel unfair when you get stuck with useless weapons and the grind to increase your ships abilities feels a bit unbalanced. It’s a good thing that I found the gameplay to be so fun and addictive though as it kept me playing despite those concerns.
Brief Battles can make for a pretty fun time so long as you have four people to play it.
What really makes this game much more enjoyable though is playing it with friends locally or online so if you’re looking for something new to sit down with a group and play then maybe give For The King a shot.
The gripping mature storytelling, atmosphere, beautiful and horrifying environments, and the bond between Amicia and Hugo make A Plague Tale one of the best games of 2019 and simply should not be missed.
Whether Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is for you or not depends on what you really want out of it.
All-in-all, the game is one I would recommend to any simulation fan – though I would advise against a purchase if you’re usually not a fan of the genre – that being said, it is one of the more enjoyable titles available.
There are bits that need work, but no game is perfect. I thoroughly enjoy the simple and logical concept of this title, and what makes it better is that with every purchase there is a charity donation too.
Mortal Kombat has never been better. It blends gameplay from past & present into a potent and bloody mix. A well-thought-out story mode elevates it into the top tier of fighting games. Flawless Victory!
While Table Top Racing: World Tour Nitro Edition introduces new content not present on other platforms, it still comes short of feeling like a good racer. The sense of speed isn’t there, the tracks are inspired but get dull fast & the core gameplay just isn’t fun.
Skyworld is well worth picking up on PlayStation VR for any fans of strategy games.
Sacrifice for Redemption offers some very interesting boss fights and introduces an innovative new concept through its "sacrifice" theme, causing you to grow weaker instead of stronger as you progress. While your character may end the game as a weaker version of himself, you'll come out as a stronger player. Only a few unfortunate technical issues hamper it becoming a true indie gem, but in the end, I have no regrets about spending time with this challenging title.
While it needs more polish and content to be truly great, World War Z is by far one of the games that has surprised me the most in 2019.
