GameSpew's Reviews
This game makes me wish my friends lived more locally so I could have them round every week to play a few matches of Living Dungeon with beer or two
The actual world of Monumental, thankfully, seems like its one saving grace
The style of animation is minimalist and yet somewhat beautiful
Whether it's locally or online, playing in co-op makes Earth Defense Force 4.1 truly shine; its unsophisticated shooter gameplay being perfect for chilling out with a friend on the couch or with up to three allies on the internet
[Level 22] often takes a bit of trial and error, having to make several mistakes before you find the right solution – but you will have a lot of fun doing so
One miscalculation and you have to start the entire level again. Sometimes, these miscalculations are not even your fault
The look of this game is nothing short of stunning… Each detail is carefully designed and thought out with a charming feel to it overall
The final two games step forward and show their well-polished improvements with graphics that laugh in the face of many 2015 releases
The thing that really stands out about Rise of the Tomb Raider is that you care about the characters at all
Oxenfree's aesthetic is wonderfully distinctive, to the point where it's indelibly tied to the game
It's hard to not love Klaus. It's one of those games that sneaks up on you from out of nowhere and puts a big smile on your face because of how surprisingly good it is
This unique, joyful and generally jolly soundtrack compliments the aesthetics of the game perfectly
There's no wit to it, it's not clever or even original when compared to the concept of the game, and you certainly won't remember the jokes in weeks to come
Whilst AIPD generally meets all of the criteria for being a great twin-stick shooter… it unfathomably just fails to impress
Levels have no checkpoints whatsoever, and when enemies often swarm in around you or suddenly drop in from the ceiling before putting an end your merciless killing spree you can justifiably feel cheated out of your hard-earned progress
What Fortified lacks in originality it certainly makes up for in style and execution
The world of Gransys is certainly not as large as Skyrim nor as dense as From Software's Souls series, but it feels lived in and filled with sights and mysteries that beg you to step outside your comfort zone
[The planning phase] of Fat City is easily the most fun but, to be fair, it’s never really a challenge
The puzzles are incredibly well thought-out and varied. Of course there are the obligatory hidden object puzzles.. but these are bolstered by much more brain-intensive puzzles that really do require you to think
The two-player co-op mode puts the rating up a notch and makes the game even more fun to play
