Every time Yuji Horii, Akira Toriyama, and Koichi Sugiyama reunite to churn out a video game, the whole world trembles and distorts itself in order to bow before their new creature. In this sense, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of a Lost Era is no exception to the rule, offering the player a very classic but always original plot. Even if the user had in fact the unpleasant feeling of being in front of something already seen or taken for granted, the narrative canvas of the product would be able to successfully erase any suspicion, proposing unpredictable events and capable of making even the most experienced JRPG experts pale.

A very traditional sequel of a little indie cult: Juan's return is still OK, but ultimately lacks the inspiration and the freshness that made the original so great. Maybe Guacamelee! was simply a better game overall, or maybe smash hits such as Hollow Knight and Dead Cells changed the face of the metroidvania genre for good: eventually Guacamelee! 2 leaves a pretty nice impression, but one that's far from the stellar debut.

As the interactive medium evolves, the tastes of enthusiasts change. A refined and rare work, but also unfortunate as Okami is, today it can be enjoyed on any platform by a potential audience certainly wider, but also more open to experimentalism. Switch's white page paints itself of the warm colors of Amaterasu's epic, thanks to a technically impeccable conversion aimed at making excellent use of Nintendo console technology, capable of making lustre and justice to the shining gem of Clover Studio and Capcom. Extremely recommended for lovers of the arts and culture of Japan.
