Categorically the best “spiritual successor” to anything I've seen in quite a while. Takes a beloved franchise and brings it smack up to date with features and gameplay elements that fit in the modern landscape of gaming. It isn't diagnosed with a case of microtransaction-itis either. Just clean, sterilised fun.

It's hard to recommend in its current state, with very poor optimisation, but definitely one to keep an eye on in the future.

9 / 10.0 - Freedom Planet
Sep 27, 2018

This is clearly a game that takes its inspiration seriously, and is a lovingly-crafted tribute to a genre of games that a lot of people, are really fond of. No new additions compared to previous releases, but if you haven't already played this then don't hesitate to pick it up on the eStore.

8 / 10.0 - Pato Box

A great stylized game with a fun and ridiculous plot. You get to be a buff boxing duck who destroys things, what more do you need to know? I definitely recommend this game, especially if you're a fan of the kind of weird.

It's a fun loving game that is colourful and a great way to get the kiddies involved with racing their favourite characters

8 / 10.0 - Overcooked 2
Sep 23, 2018

Is Overcooked 2! worth the purchase? I would say it is, for sure. The story and writing may be a bit over-the-top and punny for my liking, but there are certainly people out there that will have some fun with it. So whether you're a cook for the ages or a master of the macaroni and cheese, Overcooked 2! is certainly worth picking up.

Castaway Paradise is a title that tries to live up to other genre defining hits like Blue Harvest and Animal Crossing, but merely comes across as a cheap knock-off of the two. A life simulator that doesn't look very lively, your money is better spent else where.

You might visit for the lewdness but you won't be staying for long. Senran Kagura Reflexions falls short on its promises and ends up being a dull title that fairs to offer anything memorable.

It's unfortunate that Ubisoft decided to end with something so weak. The first two DLC were fantastic fun, but Dead Living Zombies fails to be innovative, with a very light coating on top of a glorified Zombie Mode. I honestly don't know how they could have made this better, but I'm sure it was possible. A lackluster end to the season pass trilogy, and to my time with Far Cry 5.

The Bard's Tale IV revisits the classic dungeon-crawling formula from years past, simultaneously showing reverence for its history whilst not being afraid to change it up mechanically. Visually stunning with a wonderful Gaelic folk soundtrack to go with it.

A competent sequel that adds some neat touches, but doesn't fix enough of the first game's problems.

7 / 10.0 - Graveyard Keeper
Sep 14, 2018

A solid and fun little farming type sim, but one that has a few issues. Although it's a bit rough around the edges, it's still worth a look.

An interesting premise ultimately let down by poor execution and a lack of depth seen in most every other game in the genre.

6.5 / 10.0 - War Tech Fighters
Sep 11, 2018

It does its job well as a Gundam-style mech shooter, but it just doesn't do quite enough to keep me going back in for more action. The majority of levels are just “go here, shoot this, follow that”, which unfortunately gets very repetitive after a couple of hours. There's a lot you can do with customisation, though.

Papers, Please in Brexit Britain, but at a higher price and not as fun. Feels like an opportunity wasted

SNK's female-only fighter lacks the complexity of its older brethren but can be a glitzy over-the-top fun time if you let it. Fanservice hides a fun, simple to grasp fighting system that is deeper than you think.

A polished, well put together remaster of a game that never really got a fair shake during its original release. If you like mecha punching each other or the idea of piloting one in VR is your thing you can do a lot worse than giving Zone of the Enders The 2nd Runner: Mars a go.

This is a charming little interactive story that warms the heart even if it doesn't necessarily challenge the brain. If you like your games to be story driven with characters you'll end up caring about, this is a must-have.

9 / 10.0 - Strange Brigade
Sep 10, 2018

I wasn't expecting a huge amount from Strange Brigade, but what I got was a really enjoyable experience both offline and online. This was a pleasant surprise, as generally I'm not someone who would usually play online if I can avoid it. The fact that even I preferred playing online speaks volumes about Rebellion's efforts in making a game that's best played in co-op. There are a few things that could have been done better, but nothing that can't be overlooked. This is one of my favourite multiplayer games in a very long time.

Destiny 2 Forsaken is a step in the right direction for the title but under delivers in the story department. If you like Destiny 2, then this expansion is for you.
