9 / 10.0 - Eastward
Sep 16, 2021

A wonderful homage to classic RPG gaming that takes classic concepts and polishes them up with a level of care that is rare to find.

Ultimate ADOM – Caverns of Chaos attempts to bridge classic Rogue gameplay with something less hardcore than its original incarnation. Indeed, Ultimate ADOM departs from the broad, well-developed world in favor of a single dungeon. Although not a bad foray into dungeon delving, what with its variety of playstyles, factions, races, etc., other games have managed to use this formula in a more effective and/or polished manner.

9.5 / 10.0 - Tales of Arise
Sep 13, 2021

As a result, we have a very highly detailed game where the story and gameplay are equally worthy of attention. Tales of Arise features a bright living world, peculiar charming heroes, dynamic battles that will keep you interested 50 hours in, interesting boss fights and exciting quests.

7 / 10.0 - Encased
Sep 8, 2021

Encased can suck you into it for dozens of hours for exploration and complex, difficult battles with various tactics but also leave you frustrated with the way it approaches the story and characters.

8.5 / 10.0 - Mystic Pillars
Sep 2, 2021

Mystic Pillars has an elegant Indian story woven into the game's puzzle design. At times the storyboards felt more like a barrier to getting to the next set of fun and engaging pillar puzzles. Even though a story-based puzzle game is a novel idea Mystic Pillars would stand strong on being just an outright "puzzle game". The simplicity of the controls also makes it an exceptional "travel game" via the Switch's undocked mode and touch screen support!

In the long run, Surgeon Simulator 2: Access All Areas is not a game about keeping poor Bob from bleeding out, however. Sure, there are plenty of scalpels and lots of missions but once you’re done cracking ribs with a bar stool or lighting up a lung it’s not the seasonal rewards or cosmetics that will get you coming back for more. Instead, Surgeon Simulator 2: Access All Areas will live or die by your creative skills rather than your deft scalpel skills.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is a bold, dark, epic saga, featuring an astonishing replayability value. The developers have experimented with Kingmaker, and have gone all-in with Wrath of the Righteous, creating one of the best story-driven CRPGs of late.

6.5 / 10.0 - King's Bounty II
Aug 27, 2021

The idea is there, but the execution is heavily flawed at every step of the way. The game features good elements but they are buried in so much mediocrity that you have to strain to point them out from the bland mass. King's Bounty 2 would have fit right in if it had been released a few years ago. But at this point, the game came too late to offer anything new or outstanding among the plethora of RPG and strategy titles released since.

8 / 10.0 - Black Book
Aug 26, 2021

Black Book is a unique mix of point-and-click adventure and fun card-based deck-building RPG taking place in a unique setting with interesting characters. There are certain shortcomings in translation and lack of explanation when it comes to the game's systems, but overall it is an incredibly enjoyable narrative-driven experience.

A wonderfully laid back tale that side steps the traditional point and click spam in favour of some gorgeous Miyazaki inspired artwork. Get this if you have a lazy evening to use and you'll come out smiling.

8 / 10.0 - GRIME
Aug 20, 2021

Grime is, much like its central character, an odd amalgamation of ideas, from Souls based RPGs, to platforming punch em ups, all oddly twisted into something that looks like a little nightmare all its own. If you’re looking for something different but utterly beautiful, then Grime is worth your time.

4.5 / 10.0 - AeternoBlade II
Aug 19, 2021

I enjoyed my time in AeternoBladeII but alas I can not give it more than 4.5/10 due to poor optimization, stubborn camera and an overall dated game design.

6.5 / 10.0 - Phantom Abyss
Aug 18, 2021

Phantom Abyss is a roguelike game. You navigate through procedurally generated temples in search of relics while avoiding traps and guardians. Developer Team WIBY and publisher Devolver Digital have created some real challenges as you duck, dodge, and slide your way through. Is it enough to keep players engaged and having fun?

9 / 10.0 - Edge of Eternity
Aug 9, 2021

The overall feel of the game is great and I would recommend it to any fan of the RPG genre. Some things seemed out of place for the type of RPGs I like to play but each person has their own preferences. Midgar Studio did a fantastic job of putting this title together and it is currently available on steam for 29.99 USD and the Digital Deluxe version is also available on sale at the moment.

7.5 / 10.0 - Hell Let Loose
Aug 3, 2021

Now, getting to the main question that you would probably ask: "Is Hell Let Loose worth the price?" Well, it depends. If you are a patient gamer against minor bugs and issues, and you love hardcore games, then you should get it. On the other hand, if you think you might not like the realism of the game or you don't have any squads, then you'd better wait for a free weekend opportunity or a discount on the price.
