Killer Queen Black is a surprisingly superb mix of action and strategy in a 2D arena. Levels, game modes and character choices are rather limited after repeated matches, but the action and strategy are enough to keep players invested simply by having a good time. Killer Queen Black is an exceptional choice for gamers that want quick fun in a 2D space.
The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt is a fantastic addition to the Switch RPG line-up. It's visual may have been scaled down but it's no less fantastic of a game.
While this adventure looks and feels like a fantastic ode to my own experiences, it is going to be incredibly divisive.
Sea Salt looks and feels like one of the great DOS games of yore. It features complex and well-designed pixel graphics with an interesting premise – being a dark, Lovecraftian god and punishing the unfaithful in the best way dark, Lovecraftian gods know how. This review explores this horror-themed, indie real-time strategy game – check it out, if you dare!
Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition might, at first glance, come off as a Pokémon copycat but don't be fooled. This game has a lot to offer on its own. It meshes the real world and digital worlds together all while providing its own unique creature capture system. THIS is the game Pokémon fans should be playing while they wait for Pokémon Sword & Shield to arrive!
The Elder Scrolls Online: Dragonhold expansion brings with it a multitude of new story, expansive player experience with the Khajit, and a new daily system that would make any developers jealous. There are around 10-20 hours of content with actual dragon slaying and saving cats! #SlayDragonsSaveCats
Stranded Sails is the perfect game for those who enjoy learning and structured game play. I found every new discovery exciting, cooking food for my crew rewarding and fishing as always put me in my zen zone but unfortunately I did not get the adventuring survival I was hoping for which is a shame really because it is also obvious that a lot of hard work has gone into this title as a studio and I look forward to watching Lemondrop evolve.
One can clearly see the influence of Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd. If you are a Ghostbusters fanboy like myself then I highly suggest this game.
I think anybody that enjoyed playing the Fallout games, as well as anyone that has enjoyed the Mass Effect titles, would unequivocally enjoy their time playing The Outer Worlds. I had so much fun exploring every nook and cranny, scouring out-of-the-way locations for loot, taking everything that wasn't nailed down, and immersing myself in the otherworldy locations around Halcyon.
Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is a great third-person shooter that aims to be family-friendly. It takes what previous games did well and adds more content to it at a lower price. PopCap Games knows how to develop a cast of silly and uniquely designed characters.
The Bradwell Conspiracy is a mediocre puzzle experience that doesn't last more than 6 hours. Regarding the game's disappointing story, technical issues and easy gameplay, there are better options in the same genre that you can fill your time.
The Surge 2 feels more like a heavy update for the original game with minor gameplay changes, new world and settings, and well-designed bosses. It still delivers an enjoyable hardcore experience, thanks to the balanced and smoothly working combat system, but you need to get along with a superficial story and dated graphics.
This game delivers a deep RPG experience where the various choices you make, both in character creation and in gameplay, have a bearing on what happens and how you need to go about completing tasks. There are general guidelines of what needs to be done but not a whole lot of direction on how to do those things, which leaves a lot of room for creativity.
OUTBUDDIES is a fantastic homage to Super Metroid, with a few new twists thrown in. With the addition of a robotic BUDDY that can be controlled by a second player, and some challenging content that won't punish players for failing, OUTBUDDIES adds on to the original Super Metroid formula in unexpected and pleasant ways. For fans of the retro action-platformer genre looking for that nostalgia feel, OUTBUDDIES is certain to deliver.
Overall, I like this adaptation of the Chinese story of the Monkey King. It plays smoothly and without any type of lag that I saw. Combat flowed smoothly, and the combat system was simple enough for even a young kid to learn. For $39.99 USD you get a good story which is important for games. We don't get enough games with a good story nowadays, and I am glad this is one of them.
Felix the Reaper is a surprisingly creative and entertaining 3D puzzle game that has an uncanny way of twisting dark humor and romance. If challenging puzzles with a nice background story are your thing, you can find Felix the Reaper on Steam on October 17th.
Call of Cthulhu is a hard game to pin down. It has puzzle and investigation elements reminiscent of an adventure game, some running and hiding in the vein of a horror game, and some character development like one might find in an RPG. What it does have in spades is the Lovecraft mythos, and it does it very well.
Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch is a strong entry in the Switch's Action RPG category. The game is full of beautiful, vibrant comic book-like artwork all woven into an entertaining, well-acted mythological story. Responsive controls and top-notch playability in undocked mode make this game a strong buy! The next question that comes to mind is when will Darksiders III be released on the Nintendo Switch?
If you are ready to take on the role of an aspiring knight with questionable decision-making abilities, then A Knight's Quest may be the game for you. Overall it is a good game with a lot of charm set in a generic world. Unfortunately, mediocre combat, at times mildly frustrating level design, and the odd in-game bug mar what would otherwise be a great experience.
There's no denying that Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale are classic AD&D RPGs in all their glory. Don't stop here if you're looking for remasters. If you're looking to play these classics for the first time or want to enjoy these adventures on the bus ride home then welcome back! Even after 20 years these games still hold some magic and these Enhanced Editions on the Nintendo Switch are faithful and competent ports!
