Yes, it’s not your typical Metal Gear and yes, its microtransactions do more harm than good. But still, Metal Gear Survive is an interesting spin-off that manages to build tension via exploration and provides with decent base building mechanics to keep you occupied for hours.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance transforms the mundane into something special, intertwines its mechanics with both its narrative and setting in a way that few games managed to do it.

Mostly overshadowed by Stellaris 2.0 Update, Apocalypse is a solid, albeit light on content expansion.

Instead of building upon or refining the base game mechanics, Rise and Fall disrupts it, makes Civilization VI even more confusing and random. It’s one big missed opportunity.

Crossing Souls is filled to the brim with 80s nostalgia, from movie references to a stereotyped cast, so much that it forgets the most important aspect: to have a soul of its own.

An amazing story about fighting oppresion, figuring out who you are and what is your place in the world. Filled to the brim with engrossing encounters and cleverly designed boss fights.

Online issues aside, Dragon Ball FighterZ is a great entry not only for fighting games newcomers, but for Dragon Ball fans in general.

Once again Creative Assembly breaks the mold with a faction full of personality and unique mechanics. Rise of the Tomb Kings is what we expected for Total War: Warhammer II future and it delivered on pretty much every front.

Share a few cocktails, wonder about life, how you came to be and how fragile we are. The Red Strings Clubs is a deep dive into what makes us happy and how sometimes we fabricate our feelings. Beautifully written and executed.

Between sea shanties and sea perils, there’s a lot of charm in Nantucket. I just wished it wasn’t as grindy in early game and as tedious in late game. A bigger focus on narrative and impactful enemy encounters would’ve been great.

Much like its predecessor, Reigns: Her Majesty has a deeply engaging plot and interesting characters that sadly are most of the times held back due to its often-confusing progression methods. To be played in short bursts.

Much like its protagonist, Seven: The Days Long gone is pretty is a bit overambitious and sometimes annoying. Even so, it’s a journey worth taking for its nice vistas, interesting transversal mechanics and reactive world.

Empire Divided is an interesting, and possibly the best content ever released for Rome 2. Its new campaign and story arcs – that often feels like it took cues from Total War: Warhammer – turns the 2013 game much more compelling. But, at the same time, its poor AI and unit pathfinding turns most battles into a chore. Issues that nowadays are hard to ignore when games like Total War: Attila improved in pretty much every aspect.

Unless you’re a huge fan of playing as one of the nations from “Rajas of India”, Jade Dragon feels like an unfocused and hardly engaging expansion.

Cradle of Civilization shows that Europa Universalis IV still one of the best games by Paradox with its dynamic and often surprising outcomes. The Middle East once again becomes an interesting region to play and Army Professionalism makes battles more nuanced.

Tower 57 confusing and often annoying progression system and uninteresting weapon upgrades undermine what is a beautiful and amazingly well polished shooter.

The South American scenery could’ve been a nice change of pace, but its overly flat structure and lack of new gameplay elements turns the often-rewarding pace of Farming Simulator 17 into a slog.

Don’t let the cute art style fool you, Spelunker Party is a hard as nails platformer that will challenge you at every step. While its caves are filled with interesting items that do indeed change up the way you play, the coop requirements to obtain some of those are a bit of a letdown.

There’s a distinctive beauty in Spintires: MudRunner. One that rarely shows itself in games, it’s a journey through time and self-discovery through roads filled with mud and memories. Not someone else’s, yours, from the challenges you overcame or will overcome at some point.
