God, save Naughty Dog, save this studio's employees. In games, we don't often have sincere and unforced reasons to be moved. And nobody sets the world on fire with such works as artists from Santa Monica.

9 / 10.0 - Desperados III
Jun 12, 2020

If you've played Shadow Tactics, the high quality of Desperados III will come to you as no surprise. This game checks off all the mandatory elements of the stealth tactics genre: lots of ways to complete a mission, an intriguing story (and less obvious than it seems initially), cool characters, and a difficulty level that motivates, but doesn't frustrate.

8 / 10.0 - Valorant
Jun 4, 2020

Valorant is a great mix of well-known online shooter mechanics. The developers haven't created anything unique or special, but they have nailed the most important aspect - Valorant is really, really fun to play. An additional success - almost everyone has now heard about this game thanks to the controversial marketing.

Song of Horror is a cool and scary game defined by very old-school elements and a lot of untapped potential. If you can swallow crude animations and the need to repeat many of the stages, you will be fine. If not, even the pretty surroundings and an interesting story may not be enough. Still, it could be much worse.

8 / 10.0 - Liberated
Jun 1, 2020

Liberated is an ambitious and fascinating game from a small developer. Everything you see takes place inside a comic book – it's stylish and has a hauntingly probable story. However, uninspired platforming sections may be off-putting, but you should be otherwise very happy with this experiment.

Xenoblade Chronicles is a unique jRPG. Exceptional even. Not only fans of the genre should get to know it. The remaster for Nintendo Switch makes this game even more pronounced, allowing it to find wider audience. If you're about to play it for the very first time, I envy you.

7.5 / 10.0 - Minecraft Dungeons
May 25, 2020

Minecraft: Dungeons stole 10 hours of my life, but it only took half of that to finish the game. When the difficulty level rises and Creepers multiply, the game becomes very enjoyable. However, to truly appreciate this game, you have to play it with someone. If you have a trusty team and love pixels – the game will be worth your time.

7.5 / 10.0 - VirtuaVerse
May 25, 2020

My adventure with VirtuaVerse gave me lots of satisfaction, even if the plot wasn't as gripping as I wanted it to be. What’s more, I became bored on more than one occasion. But this unique atmosphere of hacking and retro-tech made me stick to the very end. Point’n’click lives!

8.5 / 10.0 - Gears Tactics
Apr 27, 2020

Gears Tactics requires a specific approach. Players looking for complex gameplay similar to the ancient UFO need to be warned – GT is even simpler than the newest XCOMs. It’s definitely not a game to cater to core veterans. However, this is the perfect introduction to tactical strategy for anyone who found the complexity intimidating!

7.5 / 10.0 - XCOM: Chimera Squad
Apr 23, 2020

Regardless of the difficulty level, Chimera Squad doesn't let your soldiers die. Too bad, because the game could hugely benefit from this single change. Despite that, this new, mini-XCOM is worth the time. It won’t be as thrilling as XCOM 2, but it's still a bargain.

The remake of Final Fantasy VII isn’t perfect. It has some highly redundant and simply boring side activities that derail the narrative at times, and the visuals are very uneven. But all of these are minor hitches. FFVII Remake is so much more than a mere nostalgia act. It’s probably the most daring game Square Enix has created in years – one that generates great emotions and tons of fun.

8 / 10.0 - Resident Evil 3
Mar 30, 2020

Capcom does it again. Resident Evil 3 may by shorter and more linear than I'd fancy, but the 7 hours needed to complete the story whizzed by and I was more than content. The game is pretty, interesting and has the one and only – Nemesis. Ah, Nemesis…

9.5 / 10.0 - Half-Life: Alyx
Mar 27, 2020

With Half-Life: Alyx, Valve has proved once again that they are the best. After a few underwhelming projects like Artifact or Dota Underlords, the developers went back to their roots and created a superb single-player game. Alyx has a great storyline with fun characters and offers unique gameplay utilizing a technology capable of delivering a new experience. This VR title is a true revelation.

In case of Animal Crossing, a dull slogan like “this game is addictive” becomes true. I have been, with utmost pleasure, fishing, and planting flowers; I have decorated my house and talked to the residents of the island, and it was all fun. And even though I've spend more than 50 hours with New Horizons, there are still lots I of things haven’t seen. If you own a Switch and like splendid grind, you simply have to play it.

8.5 / 10.0 - Nioh 2
Mar 10, 2020

Nioh 2, despite being quite derivative, full of repetitive missions, and lacking true challenges later in the game, remains a riveting experience. This prequel looks like a mirrored image of the first game, but with some pretty ingenious level design, exciting enemies, and hugely satisfying combat and character creation systems, this game really hits home.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a great metroidvania and a worthy sequel. The developers have used proven solutions borrowed from other games, but were clever and creative about it. The game is coherent and will surprise you more than once. Is it as powerful and the first part? No. Is it as fun as the Blind Forest? Definitely yes!

Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem deserves your attention and patience. You can clearly see the passion, commitment and a fresh look on the hack’n’slash genre. Right now the game is a well-made evolution of old ideas but it has a chance to become one of the best if the developers deliver all the promised content. Despite many technical issues, Wolcen is worth your time. The game is simply too much fun!

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is a decent game despite some obvious flaws. If you compare it only to adaptations of movies and series – it’s one of the best I've seen. The game is pretty, engrossing, reasonably priced – a must-have for all fans of the Netflix series, and a strong proposition for players keen on turn-based strategies.

If you’re the type of person who loves revisiting Dragon Ball Z every year, Kakarot can be an interesting way to do it thanks to its unique approach. This mediocre game is surprisingly fun for fans of the anime. However, if you don’t understand the phenomenon of Dragon Ball, don't expect this game to change that.

8.5 / 10.0 - Darksiders Genesis
Dec 4, 2019

I expected much less from Darksiders Genesis and I got a really pleasant surprise. What looked like a hack’n’slash, a weird version of Diablo, turned out just another Darksiders game, only isometric. Hell, I think it’s even better than Darksiders III. Good stuff!
