8 / 10.0 - Ikaruga
Jun 11, 2018

Overall, Ikaruga is a great shooter but not quite what I was expecting. The length of the game combined with the difficulty may deter most people but the game is customizable enough to be fun for anyone. The game even features a couple 2-player options so you can invite a friend along for the ride. If you're a fan of shooter games, Ikaruga is definitely worth checking out. From the combo system, to the light/dark switching, it offers some unique gameplay elements even for genre veterans. Just be ready for a healthy challenge!

Overall, Aqua Moto Racing Utopia is your average, forgettable racing game, other than the fact that water racing games aren't all that common among the racing genre. Nothing, in particular, makes it stand out from the crowd.

Aqua Moto Racing Utopia's combination of abusive obstacles and physics within its gameplay along with a drab visual presentation will certainly make you long for a proper Wave Race-like challenge.

Doctor Dekker offers a lot of content, built in a way that allows you to piece an intense mystery together on your own, but with some clunky bits that let the whole game down.

Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers has turned into a nice eShop surprise. Why Nintendo isn't releasing this full priced game as a physical copy (in North America anyway) is a mystery. In fact, I'd like to see the entire trilogy compiled for a 3DS physical release or reworked for the Switch. Either way, Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers is a game I can put in a good word for.

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is a delight to play. I recommend the game especially for couples. Katelyn and I have had a blast playing through the game for the second time on the Switch (we first played through on the Wii U four years ago). If you're looking for a well-polished, incredibly fun game with some couch co-op to boot, you need to pick up Tropical Freeze on the Switch. I can't think of a thing I would change about the game–it's simply a masterpiece.

8.5 / 10.0 - Detective Pikachu
Jun 6, 2018

Fans of story-driven games or fans of the Pokémon series, in general, will enjoy Detective Pikachu. It's a fun adventure filled with some great Pokémon and interesting cases to solve. The thing I really loved about it was how they incorporated them into various jobs in each of the game's environments. They really made it feel like this world relied on the Pokémon and the humans coexisted with them in a meaningful way. I hope to see more of those types of details in future games. If you like mystery games and Pokémon, you'll be in for a treat with Detective Pikachu.

8 / 10.0 - FOX n FORESTS

Fox n Forests delivers on all angles for anyone who's been in love with the new renaissance of retro platforming games. The beautiful artwork, exploration, and combat makes this a game that Nintendo Switch owners should welcome with open arms.

6.5 / 10.0 - Atomine
Jun 4, 2018

Atomine is decent but it doesn't do anything unique. The whole experience is brought down by annoyances such as randomly spawning enemies, boring level design, a lack of variety, and unbalanced weapons. There are worse roguelikes out there, but there are also way better ones.

There was potential in Gate of Doom. I almost want to go back and play it again now, but when I remember how frustrating it is, seemingly designed to kill me as many times as possible, I decide against doing so.

For a James Bond fan like me, this game's right up my alley with all its nods to the iconic agent, even if it's only the length of a sitcom from start to finish.

Fairune Collection is casual puzzle-solving fun. It's a good game to pick up and go on the Nintendo Switch.

While hardly essential, those with nostalgia for it might consider a revisit, mainly if they have someone to share in some multiplayer entertainment with.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero – Ultimate Edition really is the definitive version of this already fantastic game. The DLC, while not as strong as the main game, is a nice bonus, with some very creative use of Shantae and her friends. If you haven't already tried this game, the answer is easy: play this now!

7.5 / 10.0 - Dragon Blaze
May 28, 2018

Overall, Dragon Blaze offers classic arcade shooting with plenty of action and a high level of difficulty to test even the most adept players. The dragon aspect adds a new spin on the genre, and, despite the short play time, there's plenty of score chasing to do if you're looking to scratch that shooter itch. Check it out.

5.5 / 10.0 - Bouncy Bob
May 25, 2018

Bouncy Bob's cumbersome movement combined with remarkably fast-moving enemies makes the game difficult to recommend to most people. But anyone with large amounts of patience who's searching for a strategic platformer with simple controls will enjoy the game. Despite its already low price, the amount of content in the game is still very thin so anyone interested in buying should wait for a sale

Tengai is a simple shooter with a lot of charm. The gameplay, while nothing special, is perfectly serviceable. And with twenty-plus endings, adjustable difficulty, as well as multiple fun and colorful characters, there's a lot of incentive to keep coming back after each playthrough.
