Jump Dash Roll's Reviews

Feb 8, 2022

Roll7 has managed to build, successfully, on each of its previous titles to create something fun and engaging in OlliOlli World. Whilst the story is mostly a miss, it doesn't detract from what is, at its heart, a fun filled skateboarding slice of gaming.

Rainbow Six Extraction is fun whilst it lasts, but there's simply not enough content here to keep players coming back long term. Its sharp gunplay and unpredictable scenarios are huge positives, but it lacks the required depth to become a proper multiplayer staple.

10 / 10 - God of War
Jan 31, 2022

God of War showcases what can be done when time is taken with the periphery as well as the main story. By taking the time to weave the strong foundation that is the Norse Mythology with that of the Kratos' history with Greek Mythology, Santa Monica Studio have crafted a truly intriguing world to inhabit. ‍

5 / 10 - Firework

Firework's initially creepy premise and relatively engaging puzzles soon give way to a confusing plot that suffers from poor localisation.

A stellar slice of indie goodness whose frenetic and precise fighting elevates it above the pack, while highlighting an important chapter in Taiwanese history.

Under Eastward's glossy and well-designed exterior, there's a confusing and overlong story that never really satisfies.

7 / 10 - Scarf

Scarf doesn't brave new platforming territory, but platforming newbies will appreciate its forgiving nature, and it tells an interesting and often dark story in an engaging way.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition is a lazy attempt at bringing three classic games into the modern era. Visually inconsistent, riddled with bugs and below par in so many other areas, the only thing this collection has going for it is nostalgia and solid foundations.

Call of Duty: Vanguard does little to change up the Call of Duty formula, but it's still a fun way to kill the nine months until next year's title releases.

Over the years I've had a love/hate relationship with Football Manager. Some years I can't put it down, others I can barely make it through a season. Football Manager 2022 is a cracking entry in the series and has added plenty to make it feel fresh when compared to previous years, the data hub being the cream of the crop.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is one of the most complete packages in all of video games. It rarely drops the ball and is absolutely the best way to play this trio of modern classics.

Party Pack 8 is varied, accessible and fun. It might not be the best compendium in the series, but the likes of Job Job, Drawful Animate and Poll Mine will ensure that it's high in your consideration for a night of party games.

The Train Simulator series has been showing its age for a long time now. Whilst Dovetail's continued support is admirable it is perhaps time that ties were cut and its energies diverted elsewhere. Whether that's into Train Sim World 2 or an actual successor to Train Simulator is immaterial, but what is clear is that there's not enough bondo in the world to paste over the cracks that are starting to show.

5 / 10 - Far Cry 6

For a game all about revolution, Far Cry 6 does little to evolve the aging series, but at least your dog can ride in your car.

The curtain call of the original Mass Effect trilogy is unfortunately its weakest entry. However, there's still enough here to warrant guiding your Shepard to finishing what they started.

True Colors is by far the best entry in Life Is Strange to date. Pulling the focus away from powers and onto relationships allows the story to grow naturally, and beautifully, without losing the essence of what makes the series great.
