The new Lords of the Fallen does many things well and stands with both feet very solidly on the ground. But also against a strong wind at the same time. It stumbles here and there in its parts. For veterans of souls-like titles, though, this is a great experience that shouldn't be missed as the technical issues are gradually resolved.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 delivers what we loved about the first installment. The story offers a spectacular narrative of familiar faces coming together to create the best video game story about a spider hero. We can't overlook the small effort to innovate and experiment with gameplay mechanics. Insomniac Games plays it safe and tries to please fans of all kinds. As a result, the game contains parts that will undoubtedly frustrate you, but that doesn't mean it will ruin the sequel's epic experience.

6 / 10 - PAYDAY 3
Oct 12, 2023

Payday 3 has a big future ahead of it, and we haven't heard the last of it yet. But now? It's off to a dismal start, with woefully little content. But if you focus on the gameplay, it's fresh, and the improved stealth is a big step forward. Payday 3 is a pretty good title that plays well, but it's just a skeleton that needs to be built upon.

10 / 10 - Sea of Stars
Oct 10, 2023

Among the giant titles that appeared this year, there is one tiny one that managed to surprise me very pleasantly. Sea of Stars is almost everything you could want from a simple-looking isometric RPG. It has a quality story that oozes emotion, tension, and humor. The combat system is complexly polished yet straightforward to understand. The world itself teems with life, mystery, and wit. You can set the pace to your liking, and nothing pushes you or makes you return due to low experience. At the same time, you'll happily go through this story several times, as it's full of surprises that you can't discover all on the first pass.

4 / 10 - Park Beyond
Oct 7, 2023

If there's one thing Park Beyond can't do, it's its management system, which doesn't work correctly and will frustrate you. So, if you prefer a sandbox, Park Beyond is a game you can enjoy. If you're looking for a theme park operation simulator, you should go back a few years when simulators still knew their limits.

The Forza Motorsport journey has come a long way, and it returns with slight innovations in the eighth installment. Sadly, however, there aren't that many, and more than a reboot, I wouldn't be shy to label it as an improvement on the seventh installment. While it's the most accessible sim, before it can teach new players more realistic driving, it overwhelms them with powerful assists. However, fans of the series will enjoy the game, especially if they play it with friends.

The return to the franchise's roots has been a success for the developers. They returned the old mechanics, which is insufficient for a perfect game. Unfortunately, Assassin's Creed Mirage lacks coherent direction and a quality script. After the previous long episodes, however, this is a pretty enjoyable game for a weekend.

7 / 10 - Torn Away
Sep 28, 2023

This cartoon adventure tells the story of a Russian Jewish girl named Asya, who was deported to a German concentration camp. Through oil-based drawings, you will experience the struggle for bare life, survival in the wilderness, eternal loneliness enriched by depressive states, and hunger and cold. The game includes several mini-games, and you can't avoid sneaking through dangerous environments. It is above average in its conception and offers a very intense emotional experience.

6 / 10 - Ad Infinitum
Sep 27, 2023

Ad Infinitum is an ambitious game. You can feel the love and effort of the developers, but it falls far short of the required quality. It tries to tell the dark story of a PTSD soldier and his family in World War I. It tries to combine the horrifying reality of life in the trenches with the dreamlike terror of nightmares. It succeeds in many of these things, but unfortunately, they are brought down by many other unpolished aspects of the game. As a result, the overall experience is as disjointed as the title's intermittent quality.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty's expansion feels confident and proves it with several great ideas that expand on the solid foundations of the original game. It offers a complementary story of conspiracy, twists, and tension. You'll also meet a brand new cast of memorable characters. After its 2.0 update, but especially with the Phantom Liberty expansion, we have no problem continuing to argue that Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the best games of the current generation.

8 / 10 - Lies of P
Sep 23, 2023

Lies of P is an excellent attempt by Neowiz to break into the problematic segment of souls-like games. And they handled almost everything with aplomb. Although, on the one hand, the game sometimes blatantly copies familiar elements, especially from FromSoftware games; maybe because of that, you won't realize you're not playing a game made by them. That's how good Lies of P is. It's a shame that it's brought down by some fundamental problems, though. Some of the biggest ones can be counted among the strange emphasis on unintuitive boss attacks, significantly underused lying mechanics, and the uninteresting nature of some of the locations. Fortunately, this is offset by the fantastic gameplay and overall atmosphere. Thus, Souls fans should not overlook this game.

Mortal Kombat 1 is the best installment in the series. The reboot of the timeline made room for new, but also old chaotic plots that are now gripped a little more steadily. Beginners needn't fear starting off with this installment. Thanks to the cameo fighters, you get something new again. Unfortunately, the interactivity of the arenas has fallen off with this option, but given the dynamics of the combat, that's not entirely a bad thing. The soundtrack in Mortal Kombat is more ambient than some dynamic pumper. The changes from the last installment are many, but I can't say they're detrimental. On the contrary, I really enjoyed this fresh start.

The Crew Motorfest isn't just trying to be a copycat of the rival Forza Horizon series. Thanks to the improved driving model and sound compared to the second game, this is an excellent arcade race that you will be happy to return to. The replacement of the traditional campaign with the playlist mode is also to blame. Thanks to them, you will discover the whole island of O'ahu and also try out most of the fleet.

Jagged Alliance 3 is an all-around fun game that delivered exactly what we expected from it despite its flaws, which can get on our nerves, especially in the tactical part. Ultimately, though, it's not so bad that it ruins your experience of the game as a whole.

Mimimi Games is closing its gaming career in a big way. Pirate fantasy in the form of Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is pretty, fun, enjoyable... just great. Unfortunately, it's not without its flaws, the monotony of the environment being the biggest one. Still, it is a game of unique caliber in its genre.

Chants of Sennaar is a successful logical point-and-click adventure game inspired by an ancient Babel/Babylon story. The linguistic overlap is embedded in investigative puzzles and is a significant part of the game's content, alongside other story-accompanying logic puzzles. The game is lovely artwork and combines simple graphics with an intense experience through the color spectrum and even the musical background. The communication with the player thus takes place on all possible levels and, despite the concretization, is primarily based on a distinctive perception and experience.

5 / 10 - Fort Solis
Sep 12, 2023

Fort Solis has severely untapped potential, and while it's great that the developers put more energy into the graphics and voice acting, they could have just carved out more time for a better story or interaction with the items. It can feel like a minor horror game and will force you to keep playing only to find that the story doesn't have much to offer, nor will it give you a reason ever to turn it on again.

6 / 10 - Starfield
Sep 9, 2023

In general, Starfield delivers an above-average combination of mediocre mechanics. There's no denying that Bethesda has created a strong core on which they can build content for months, maybe years to come, through updates and mods. And while Starfield isn't as bad off technologically as it was at the launch of No Man's Sky, it's the vision of future updates that can turn Starfield into something better. To be a game that doesn't just target Bethesda fans but brings a better experience to fans of all space games.

Immortals of Aveum had more than that, but it is still an OK title; it is not extraordinary, but it doesn't offend, and on the other hand, the humor and audio side of things are good. It's a shame about the appalling technical state on PC, where the title has problems even on a more robust build, but when the developers fix it? It'll be an acceptable title to unwind with.
