No - Concord

Firewalk Studios' work started off on the wrong foot with a surprising announcement, but one that generated very few expectations. After that, the pre-release beta generated great uncertainty due to the number of active players, and left many doubts. If Concord returns, it has to do so not only bringing a radical change in terms of what it proposes, but also seeking to attract a non-existent and disenchanted community from the first moment.

Yes - Astro Bot
Sep 5, 2024

Astro Bot, Team Asobi's platformer, reaffirms what was seen in Astro's Playroom, reaching excellence and positioning itself at the top of the genre as one of the best games of the year. Team Asobi's work offers an exquisite gameplay and takes care of every single aspect that makes it up. This is not a good attempt or a great contender for the crown. On the contrary, we are talking about one of the best platformers of the last 10 years.

Tomba! The memorable PlayStation platformer is back with a remaster that does its job very well and gives the Whoopee Camp franchise a new lease of life. The Tokuro Fujiwara-designed game continues to stand out among modern offerings. It does so thanks to its colorful scenery, ingenious level design and the particular charm of our pink-haired protagonist. The 2.5D gameplay has aged like a fine wine and, although it does not reach the excellence of other titles by the author, it is a beautiful chapter in the history of gaming that is worth visiting.

Dread Delusion, the RPG by Lovely Hellplace, invites us to explore a crumbling and surreal world, with a very particular and nostalgic gameplay experience. A title that stands out for a more than striking aesthetic and a solid scenario design with a color scheme that contrasts very well. The furious crimson sky notoriously highlights the flora and fauna of the islands that are differentiated by their biome and buildings.

Deathbound is a soulslike game with a unique atmosphere and a gameplay whose mechanics make it a very different title from what we are used to seeing in the genre. Finding a soulslike that offers something new and fun is a challenge. In addition, the message of growth and transformation that seeks to convey is evident, addressing serious issues such as religious fanaticism, the ephemeral nature of life and the horrors of war.

Yes - Abathor
Jul 25, 2024

Abathor, the action-platformer developed by Pow Pixel Games is a tribute to arcade classics and a great reason to celebrate for fans of the genre. Abathor squeezes but doesn't choke. It's challenging and can get frustrating, but the sense of gratification that comes from beating a tricky boss or level is priceless. It is an ideal game to share with friends, but it can also be enjoyed (and a lot!) alone. Undoubtedly, one of the best proposals of modern action and platform.

Veritus, the new release from Colorgrave, expands the captivating universe established in Prodigal, with a proposal that emphasizes narrative without neglecting the gameplay that characterizes them so much. With Horror Tales: The Beggar, Carlos Coronado offers us a surprising horror adventure, which shines for a remarkable visual section and a set of very original mechanics. A proposal with a fair duration, which is best enjoyed in one gulp. The story is kept in the line of the simple, although it does not stop being interesting. However, it is the excellent visual section that takes the palms, along with a dynamic of very interesting and original mechanics.

Gestalt: Steam & Cinder is a metroidvania that stands out for its solid narrative and a gameplay whose mechanics slightly manage to make it stand out among its peers. A petit metroidvania that can brighten up a weekend, since it won't let us escape from its clutches until it's finished.

More than an expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree is a completely new adventure that puts an end to a cycle, inviting us to review a memorable saga. It is difficult to determine what the future holds for the studio or even for the genre that made it so popular. Be that as it may, we will always have The Lands Between.

Anger Foot, the new work of Free Lives, offers a crazy, frenetic and fun proposal, which invites us to clean a city full of ruffians by force of kicks. A game full of humor whose frenetic gameplay invites us to enjoy crazy action by kicking everything that crosses our path. Visually it is very striking and the moving soundtrack does nothing but motivate us to throw kicks and send the enemies through the air.

Autopsy Simulator manages to capture the dissection of corpses with great rigor, inviting us to enjoy an interesting experience from the perspective of a forensic doctor. An excellent simulator at a technical level and shines when it comes to capture with great rigor the task of carrying out forensic autopsies. In that sense it is great thanks to the deployment that makes this science, and also for presenting a level of immersion that reaches the point that we can almost feel the smells of a morgue.

With Noreya: The Gold Project, Dreamirl proposes a creative twist to the metroidvania genre, with an interesting adventure that stands out for its careful technical aspect. A rather pleasant title that raises some very interesting ideas that allow us to define the attributes of the protagonist and the exploration of the map, something that is not often seen.

With Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-sparked! Konami brings back from oblivion one of the best 16-bit characters in a compilation that shines for its quality and respect for the original work. A compilation that does a great job of preservation and is the perfect excuse to return to play these three action platformers that, despite having 3 decades on their shoulders, continue to give a lecture among all the exponents of the genre.

With Morbid: The Lords Of Ire, Still Running invites us to discover a reimagining of his previous work, with a soulslike that leaves aside the pixel art graphics to give way to 3D environments. However, the technical section does not quite accompany the transition, causing the immersion to be notably diluted. As a result, Still Running's new work complies, but is a step below its predecessor.

Ghost of Tsushima arrives on PC with a technically impeccable port, offering a new audience the chance to enjoy a title that stands out, but has plenty of potential for much more. an experience that, on the one hand, holds back and does not allow itself to develop its full potential. A title held back by the need to comply with the conventions of the medium, which fails to fully spread its wings to end up crowning itself as something unique, remaining fluttering on the ground of the familiar.
