Rise of the Ronin is the first open world from Team Ninja, which seeks to elevate its action RPG formula to a new level. In this new production, there will be no Oni or monsters to eliminate, but a scenario of clashes between the now former samurai opposed to the decisions of the Tokugawa shogunate and westerners from the United States, who wish to enter fully into the trade and life of the Japanese people. Within this era of historical transition, known as the Bakkumatsu, stands the game's protagonist, a ronin, who will set out to find his own twin blade, a comrade-in-arms he has trained with since childhood, believed dead. The open world created by Team Ninja will offer many elements of exploration, missions with multiple decision-making choices and collectables to collect. But the core of the game remains the combat system; Rise of the Ronin does not reward button-mashing in the slightest, but provides smooth and elegant combat that will make you focus on deflection and counterattack, which are necessary to survive. Although the graphics do not compare to other first-party titles from Sony, Rise of the Ronin will captivate you with its over-the-top gameplay and historical accuracy of mid-19th century Japan.

Alone in the Dark returns to the scene after several years (and postponements) with an enjoyable product, but far from the other ‘restyling’ operations to which the last few years have accustomed us. Despite a fine setting and an excellent puzzle sector, Pieces Interactive's new endeavour runs aground on an unmemorable gunplay and on a fluctuating graphical rendering. A good starting point, however, which we hope will pick up further in the near future.

Hi-Fi Rush lands on PlayStation 5 bringing with it all the glittering baggage that allowed it to enter the hearts of thousands last year on Xbox and PC. Tango Gameworks' stunning game fully represents everything an entertainment product should do, which is to entertain. Despite some flaws in terms of level design, the title deserves to be played by all those who love action and music, perfectly blended here.

The Stalker trilogy is undoubtedly a good marketing move in view of the upcoming Stalker 2, due in September 2024. Nonetheless, we cannot say that we are facing a true remastered version, but simply a transposition of the original titles on the old and current generation consoles. This is because the improvements made are modest, both in terms of technical and graphical aspects. Nevertheless, this is a trilogy that will be of interest to those who were unable to experience the original titles on PC or who, while waiting for Stalker 2, want to learn more about the plot.

Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster is a truly excellent re-release. Not so much because incredible new features and the latest in graphical splendour have been brought into play, but because Nightdive has taken the opportunity to make this Remastered a sort of historical document, a way for younger fans to feel the breeze of Kyle Katarn's adventures and for the more nostalgic to discover more about the game. Here's to Remasters made like this!

The Inquisitor is a title that could really offer a different experience, especially thanks to a narrative compartment that is out of the chorus and hardly addressed in the videogame landscape. We feel like rewarding this departure from the Polish company's comfort zone, but we can't do the same for the gameplay and the technical compartment, which is really dated and unsatisfactory.

Although there are no prerequisites for a memorable title, we are faced with a product of good quality and capable of entertaining users adequately. The proposed offer follows in the footsteps of past games, going back to the purely narrative aspect to be experienced step by step.

Unicorn Overlord is a game that pushes Vanillaware's potential to the max. We are faced with a real-time tactical RPG that conveys a sense of freedom and satisfaction never seen before. Although it is a game that is at its best at higher difficulties, even novices will be able to enjoy Unicorn Overlord in story mode, having plenty of time to familiarise themselves with the various mechanics on offer.

Reveil is a game that makes one feel a continuous sense of dispersion and illusion. It makes mood its strong point, with an artistic direction that excels and allows the player to immerse himself in the adventure to the fullest. As far as the pure gameplay part is concerned, however, it could have been done much better.

Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is a beautiful return. Nostalgic, always charming, fun. The two games included in the package are true cornerstones of today's multiplayer shooters, and in this sense Aspyr's gimmick of opening the online servers is what, we hope, will highlight the operation and revive a community that has loved these classics for over a decade. We expect more operations of this kind in the future: Aspyr confirms itself as a safety, and long-time fans can only thank it, also for the launch price.

Balatro is a roguelike that mixes the classic rules of Poker with some innovative mechanics that make this a particularly fascinating, original and above all mesmerising title. It won't be easy, once you have understood the best strategies to continue in Balatro, to tear yourself away from the screen.

The Thaumaturge confirms the positive trend of CRPGs of the last period, but offers its own completely original take on the genre. The setting in early 20th century Warsaw of the adventures of our tormented Wiktor adds a very special flavour to this dark-toned production.

The Outlast Trials learns what good things have been achieved in terms of settings and gameplay in the two main titles of the series and succeeds in presenting an innovative, addictive product capable of bringing players together in a horror environment. However, the multiplayer formula may not be appreciated by genre purists, who would find Red Barrels' latest effort an underwhelming and slightly monotonous experience (all the more so when played as a single player).

The remake of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a work that brings back in an up-to-date guise a title that thrilled thousands of players in 2013. However, the genre to which it belongs pushes very little towards replayability, and consequently, also accomplice to the fact that there is almost nothing new in terms of gameplay (only the split screen), the purchase is motivated mainly for those who have never had the pleasure of interacting with the work before.

Trapped in Limbo, the second DLC of Atomic Heart, is wrong. So wrong. Wrong in the way it wants to tell something, wrong in the attempt to turn the game into something else, wrong in intent and form. Hopefully Mundfish will heed these criticisms, but this is two DLCs out of two that fall far short of expectations. How many more times can we forgive them?

Dicefolk is a roguelite based on turn-based combat with dice that introduces the possibility of also commanding the opposing team. It is an original and well-crafted title that guarantees a good number of hours of fun.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a remake without great pretensions, for one of the funniest puzzle-platform games in the history of the mustachioed plumber. Without great pretensions, yes, but with various new features and also an almost hardcore drift that makes you think: perhaps the developers got carried away? Perhaps they tried to touch the chords of a more adult audience inclined to try to solve an enigma? Maybe. In all of this, the 2004 game has been brought back to light, and it's a good showing for Nintendo.

We are not talking about a perfect title, but we must recognize Ubisoft's commitment to a game world that leaves room for freedom of activity and exploration, which aims for long-term replayability, thanks also to the updates expected to arrive shortly . In summary, the product is valid and brings good potential into play.

With Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft we received a fantastic remaster that impressed us. It clearly demonstrates that old classics can shine even today, after 28 years. Lara Croft's "new" adventure is simply fantastic. However, it must be kept in mind that these are still old school games, so we must say that there will be no shortage of trial and error sessions, especially when precise jumps are required. Apart from this and a few bugs, it is a workmanlike remaster, and we hope that other software houses will follow this example. Aspyr's product is truly successful.
