Critic Reviews for Halls of Torment
If I could play this thing on a beige CRT while Rob Zombie screamed in my ears I wouldn't know it wasn't 1999. Actually, wait, I can do that. If anyone needs me, tell them I'm busy for the next… foreseeable future.
Halls of Torment offers tons of replayability with minimal fuss, and is just challenging enough to keep you engaged for every moment.
Halls of Torment is more than simply Vampire Survivors wearing Diablo’s clothes. It’s a clever and engrossing Survive ‘em Up that uses RPG trappings to add a ton of versatility and rewarding complexity to what would still be a fun game without it. There’s a pile of quirky character classes and a massive number of ways to build them during each run, just a big pile of content and not a shred of it feels like padding.

Halls of Torment combines the character-building, loot and atmosphere of Diablo with the conciseness and pick-up-and-play nature of the Survivors-like genre to create an experience like no other. You might encounter the odd minor frustration while playing, but this is very easy to recommend.
With its retro aesthetic and tightly intuitive Survivors-like gameplay, Halls of Torment really packs a punch that'll satisfy any genre fan. ☠️
Halls of Torment is a thrilling mix of roguelike survival and bullet-hell, offering challenging enemy waves, satisfying combat, and nostalgic Diablo-inspired visuals, making it a must-play for fans of games like Vampire Survivors.

The roguelike formula, combined with combat against progressively larger hordes, continues to show its strength and the 1.0 release of Halls of Torment is yet another example of its genius and simplicity.
