Looking for a classic survival horror set in an original and well-defined setting? Then you should not avoid Conscript, which effectively and modernly incorporates elements from the genre's past. With a powerful and well-executed setting, plus an additional strong gameplay, Jordan Mochi's title also benefits from a refined indirect characterization. The enemy AI is sometimes inconsistent (except for the human blood-sniffing rats!) and the backtracking is quite invasive, but Conscript impresses positively in terms of quality and fun. Give it a chance; you won't regret it!

Schim bases its entire game on a single gimmick. Despite the intriguing concept of jumping between shadows, it doesn't entertain as much as it should, offering neither a challenge nor a relaxing pastime. The plot is somewhat non-linear and ill-suited for the game. It's a shame because the core idea is solid, but the lack of notable level design and original mechanics makes it a fleeting distraction, failing to provide lasting entertainment or be memorable.

Downward: Enhanced Edition is a solid and fun first-person platformer that stands out in the genre for its fantasy setting, offering varied scenarios from exotic zones to icy or fiery expanses. It's a pity about some small physics issues that get the character stuck in unlikely places, the lack of real combat, and a soporific and inconclusive plot that doesn't do justice to Caracal Games' creation.

If I could choose a version of the Riven remake to play, I'd likely go for the classic screen version. Despite the beauty of VR landscapes, it's clear the game was designed for a 2D screen and later adapted to VR, which comes with limitations. While it's acceptable to not interact with everything on a screen, in VR it makes less sense to touch everything to determine what’s part of the puzzle or just the environment. Frequent load times break the immersion and slow down gameplay, making players avoid some puzzles unless necessary. Despite these issues, it's still a pleasing VR experience for those who want to fully immerse themselves in one of the most charismatic and well-made puzzle games. Recommended.

Nobody Wants to Die is a hidden gem and a pleasant surprise this hot summer, with a raw, direct narrative that immerses you in a disturbing cyberpunk noir world. However, the overly guided and linear gameplay is a downside.

During my roughly 5 hours with Indika, I constantly wondered where Odd Meter was heading, given its sudden shifts in progression. Despite occasionally unclear situations, the overall result was very enjoyable, thanks to a story filled with contrasts and struggles. While the mix isn't always perfect due to some technical stumbles, it's a less predictable narrative adventure worth experiencing.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess reminded me of the 128-bit era when the gaming scene wasn't all about chasing success at any cost. Capcom’s title stands out by being unconventional, yet polished and fun. Don't be intimidated by its tight gameplay flow; the surprises from Osaka will impress you at every turn. Backed by excellent technical and gameplay elements, it’s a must-have for Japanese game lovers and those tired of repetitive productions.

Playing Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition makes you realize how much this title deserves a remake, but instead, we have to settle for a simple remaster. The graphical overhaul is well done and does justice to a timeless classic despite some limitations due to the passage of time that the developers haven't addressed. The new additions don't fully justify the purchase for long-time fans, who will likely be driven by nostalgia. However, those who have never experienced the story of Jade and Pey’j now have no excuses.

There's not much to say about Parasol Stars: The Story of Bubble Bobble III, as it retains its original incarnation despite some modern improvements. Bub and Bob's third adventure remains incredibly enjoyable and fun. While more bonus material would have been nice, the affordable price makes it a satisfying purchase. It's a game to replay if you loved it in the past or discover if you missed it on older hardware.

Despite some flaws likely due to a low budget, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Sweep the Board has all the elements to become a fan favorite. With simple and fun gameplay mechanics, functional and varied mini-games, it hits the mark by creating an entertaining title. The option to choose the number of turns allows you to manage your time, whether for a short, medium, or long game, keeping you engaged for over an hour. It's a must for fans and lovers of peaceful yet dynamic party games, despite its graphical shortcomings that could have made it truly essential.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is a straightforward remaster of the 3DS game, bringing it to the Nintendo Switch with minimal changes. Unlike a full remake, it offers only improved resolution and 3DS screen adaptation. The framerate stays at 30 FPS, multiplayer lacks new features, and it's essentially a direct port. Is it recommended? Yes, if you haven't played it before. It's fun to catch ghosts with Luigi, and the secrets and collectibles add to the enjoyment. However, it could have offered more.

If you grew up between the '70s and '80s and love robotic anime, Megaton Musashi W: Wired is the realization of that childhood dream. Level-5 has turned a mecha series into a long-lasting, fun game with plenty of customization options. With a more intriguing story than expected and solid, albeit repetitive, gameplay, it's a content-rich production and a tribute to Japanese animation. A game that was once unimaginable to see in the West, deserving of your attention.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is a solid and fun JRPG, a good alternative to the main series. Its vibrant and colorful art style still holds up well. The game improves on its predecessor but inherits some limitations in side missions and exploration.

Monster Hunter Stories is a JRPG that, despite graphical and audio improvements, clearly shows its limitations as a nearly ten-year-old Nintendo 3DS game. Overlooking these limits, it's still a fun game that showcases the more Pokémon-like side of the series.

Exo One is a unique and intriguing journey worth your attention. Rolling, gliding, and flying across planets towards Jupiter delivers tangible emotions despite some control issues. Putting these aside, the game offers a whispered, ethereal story with evocative presentation. Exbleative's work captures those willing to dive into the cosmos' depths.

The debut work from this Latin American development team is extremely pleasant in its simplicity, with an enjoyable story, effective gameplay, and impactful art style. Astor: Blade of the Monolith is a good start for C2 Game Studio on consoles and a promising foundation for more ambitious goals.

EA Sports F1 24 feels like a transitional entry, awaiting something more significant hopefully next year. Codemasters' racing game features solid, fun gameplay and a revamped career mode, but some promising ideas fall short. The nearly unchanged game offering and overall sense of déjà vu make it hard to recommend to those who played the previous installment, yet die-hard fans might overlook these flaws.

The lack of a high-quality tennis video game was felt, and TopSpin 2K25 brings joy to fans with its excellent gameplay. Unfortunately, this excellence doesn't extend to other aspects, with technical and content offerings below today's standards. Hopefully, TopSpin 2K25 marks a new beginning for the series, with 2K Games addressing these issues in future installments.

As an experienced reviewer of Mario & Co., it's no surprise that I commend Nintendo for creating such original, fun, and accessible games. Paper Mario is one of the best series, and having finally played The Thousand-Year Door, I understand why it's considered the best. After several ported versions with additions from the Wii U, Nintendo has finally brought new life to classic games, hitting the mark with this one.

As someone who enjoys puzzle games, I found that Paper Trail hits the mark. The game appears simple but is actually complex with varying levels of difficulty (sometimes a bit too much). The logic of folding and creating new paths isn't immediately obvious, and it takes a few levels to get into the flow. However, the constant changes in dynamics keep the challenge engaging without being impossible. Highly recommended, despite being completed relatively quickly.
