Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves fights with the heart of a veteran but stumbles like a rookie when it bows to trends; a worthy return for the right hands, a missed opportunity for those seeking the perfect heir.

All things considered, Super Technos World: River City & Technos Arcade Classics is a work clearly aimed at the more "vintage" gamers, those who feel a strong attachment to the included titles and wish to relive the emotions and sensations they experienced as children or teenagers. Younger players are unlikely to appreciate such a product, which is a real shame, as it could have been a great opportunity to teach a bit of video game history, if only they had made the effort to include some meaningful extras.

Halfway between a 2D soulslike and a metroidvania, Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree delivers a compelling and original RPG experience, as well as plenty of fun. With solid, satisfying combat mechanics and well-structured progression, its only minor flaws lie in the entropy-based levels and somewhat inconsistent difficulty. Overcoming these, Primal Game Studios offers an engaging, carefully crafted adventure that provides hours of entertainment—an underrated title with a fresh take on the soulslike genre.

87 / 100 - Ghost Town
Apr 24, 2025

After playing through almost the entire game in a single sitting, unable to stop myself, I can confidently say that Ghost Town is one of the finest puzzle adventures in the VR scene. It comfortably takes its place alongside classics of the genre such as Myst, Riven, and the excellent Red Matter. The game manages to carve out a distinctive audience, thanks to a strong narrative and a unique gameplay style. It succeeds in being engaging without ever becoming overly complex or inaccessible. In essence, Fireproof Games accomplishes its core objective: to provide an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Over the course of its six to seven hours of playtime, it offers one of those rare titles that captivates you from the very beginning and leaves you wishing it would never end.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a rare gem — the kind of game that rekindles your love for the medium. With a deep combat system, a moving story, and a stunning artistic direction, it stands out in today’s gaming landscape. It's not without flaws, especially in exploration, but what it achieves in emotion, design, and gameplay more than makes up for it. If you’re looking for a JRPG-inspired experience with a bold artistic soul and heartfelt storytelling, this is a journey you won’t want to miss.

70 / 100 - Steel Seed
Apr 22, 2025

Steel Seed is an ambitious project that shows how the Italian indie scene is growing, with courage and a clear identity. The game has its flaws, including technical issues, some design oversights, and a narrative that struggles to fully take off, but its heart is definitely in the right place. You can feel it in the artistic direction, in the desire to offer a customizable experience to players, and in the effort to deliver something that still manages to entertain a modern audience, at least in part. It’s an experience that deserves attention, especially for those who love indie games and want to support a growing development scene. With proper patches at launch and the addition of the promised voice-overs, Steel Seed could turn out to be a pleasant surprise.

75 / 100 - Forever Skies
Apr 20, 2025

Forever Skies offers a calm, atmospheric take on the survival genre. While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it delivers a satisfying loop of exploration, crafting, and progression — all centered around a well-designed airship that feels like a true companion. It lacks technical polish and suffers from repetitive environments, but its mood, pacing, and accessibility make it a worthy experience for those seeking a slower, more meditative survival journey.

85 / 100 - Ultros
Apr 15, 2025

Thanks to its layered gameplay and ever-evolving world, ULTROS stands out as a bold and distinctive experience. Its visionary art direction and atmospheric soundtrack create one of the most original journeys the genre has seen. This isn’t your typical metroidvania — ULTROS dares to blend styles and ideas, turning each loop into a reflection on change, death, and rebirth — for both the character and the player.

70 / 100 - Rusty Rabbit
Apr 14, 2025

If you're looking for an accessible metroidvania with intriguing storytelling and world-building, Rusty Rabbit is worth a try. The futuristic, snowy adventure of Stamp offers a well-blended mix of elements, even if it doesn't revolutionize the genre. While not impressive in level design or groundbreaking ideas, and with some minor progression flaws, it stands firmly over its roughly 16-hour playthrough. Ultimately, it's an honest and enjoyable game available at a very affordable price for what it delivers.

70 / 100 - WWE 2K25
Apr 11, 2025

WWE 2K25 is a chapter that lives in the shadow of its predecessor. After the major step forward taken with 2K24, Visual Concepts has chosen to play it safe, limiting themselves to small refinements and a few side additions that hardly justify upgrading to the new installment—especially for those still holding on to last year’s game. The gameplay is solid but almost unchanged, the new modes struggle to find a clear identity, and where the game tries to innovate — see The Island — it does so in an intrusive and clumsy way, with an increasingly aggressive microtransaction system, while Showcase and MyRise take a clear step backwards. The result is a game that can entertain, but fails to excite. A more of the same that will satisfy the most die-hard fans… but may disappoint those expecting something bolder and more impactful.

70 / 100 - Star Overdrive
Apr 9, 2025

Star Overdrive presents itself as an interesting and at times bold game, blending different genres with the ambition of creating something original. Caracal Games' title manages to offer some enjoyable moments thanks to a solid combat system and well-designed dungeons, but it falls short due to an underwhelming narrative, a frustrating progression system, and exploration that often feels tedious.

80 / 100 - UNDERDOGS
Apr 8, 2025

Underdogs is a brawler enriched with well-crafted RPG elements, offering a thrilling and immersive experience. Its standout feature is the highly engaging combat system, which effectively conveys the brutality of the battles in the Neo Brakka arena. However, the sections between fights rely heavily on randomness, which may overshadow the gameplay during runs. With the addition of a challenge editor and solid replayability, Underdogs is undoubtedly a highly recommended title in today's gaming landscape.

80 / 100 - MULLET MADJACK
Apr 4, 2025

Andy Warhol once predicted the famous 15 minutes of fame, but Mullet MadJack needs only 10 seconds to win over players. Despite its simple and straightforward concept, HAMMER95's work captivates with entertainment and near-perfect balance. The narrative layer adds charm, even though it might initially seem superficial. The result is a bold, unconventional, and delightfully psychedelic FPS, hindered only by repetitive level layouts and the inherent randomness typical of roguelikes.

South of Midnight may not be the ultimate breakthrough for Compulsion Games, but it stands as their most solid and successful work so far. This well-crafted adventure balances platform and action elements, supported by strong gameplay mechanics. However, its progression remains somewhat formulaic, its construction conventional, and its mechanics highly derivative. Despite these shortcomings, the game delivers enjoyment in every aspect. Exploring the bayou with Hazel offers delightful surprises, particularly from a visual standpoint, showcasing that Compulsion Games is on the right path.

Promising start for Pollard Studio? Judging by the results of Karma: The Dark World, the answer is yes. Daniel's adventure hits the mark with engaging writing and an intriguing, oppressively dark game world. While the story captivates, it falters a bit near the end. The gameplay, though simplistic and predictable, flows well with the progression. Visually and in terms of direction, the debut from the Chinese studio shows potential despite some signs of inexperience. The foundation laid is promising for future projects.

84 / 100 - Split Fiction
Mar 31, 2025

Much like Hazelight Studios' previous titles, Split Fiction left us nothing short of impressed, thanks to its varied gameplay and a technically refined presentation. This time around, Mio and Zoe dive deep into their own imagination, in a game clearly crafted for a more experienced audience. It’s fast-paced, intense, and at times downright unforgiving, punishing even the smallest misstep. A bit of frustration is to be expected. The game demands razor-sharp reflexes and a high level of coordination and understanding between players. But despite the difficulty spike, we genuinely believe the experience is more than worth it.

80 / 100 - AI Limit
Mar 26, 2025

If I had judged solely based on the demo, I would have regrettably overlooked a well-crafted and enjoyable game like AI Limit. The developers at SenseGames demonstrated their attentiveness to player feedback, delivering an intriguing soulslike experience with its own identity. The game features a well-designed and entertaining combat system, paired with a unique and inspired setting. While the technical aspects fall somewhat short, the gameplay progression is balanced and captivating. For those who tried the demo, forget your impressions and give the game a shot—you might be pleasantly surprised, as I was.

Does everything change just to stay the same? Not quite. While Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land by Koei Tecmo and Gust serves as a great entry point to the series, the simplifications and innovations introduced seem to have stripped it of its essence. Despite being enjoyable and well-crafted, the game feels more generic and similar to other titles in the genre, rather than a noticeable evolution of the Atelier world. The streamlined alchemy and resource management may disappoint the more die-hard fans, who might not resonate with what appears on screen. It's a shame because the core structure is solid, and the game is fun to play. However, these so-called accessibility improvements have diluted the gaming experience to the point where, had it been called something else, perhaps no one would have noticed the difference.
