Monster Hunter Stories is a JRPG that, despite graphical and audio improvements, clearly shows its limitations as a nearly ten-year-old Nintendo 3DS game. Overlooking these limits, it's still a fun game that showcases the more Pokémon-like side of the series.

Exo One is a unique and intriguing journey worth your attention. Rolling, gliding, and flying across planets towards Jupiter delivers tangible emotions despite some control issues. Putting these aside, the game offers a whispered, ethereal story with evocative presentation. Exbleative's work captures those willing to dive into the cosmos' depths.

The debut work from this Latin American development team is extremely pleasant in its simplicity, with an enjoyable story, effective gameplay, and impactful art style. Astor: Blade of the Monolith is a good start for C2 Game Studio on consoles and a promising foundation for more ambitious goals.

EA Sports F1 24 feels like a transitional entry, awaiting something more significant hopefully next year. Codemasters' racing game features solid, fun gameplay and a revamped career mode, but some promising ideas fall short. The nearly unchanged game offering and overall sense of déjà vu make it hard to recommend to those who played the previous installment, yet die-hard fans might overlook these flaws.

The lack of a high-quality tennis video game was felt, and TopSpin 2K25 brings joy to fans with its excellent gameplay. Unfortunately, this excellence doesn't extend to other aspects, with technical and content offerings below today's standards. Hopefully, TopSpin 2K25 marks a new beginning for the series, with 2K Games addressing these issues in future installments.

As an experienced reviewer of Mario & Co., it's no surprise that I commend Nintendo for creating such original, fun, and accessible games. Paper Mario is one of the best series, and having finally played The Thousand-Year Door, I understand why it's considered the best. After several ported versions with additions from the Wii U, Nintendo has finally brought new life to classic games, hitting the mark with this one.

As someone who enjoys puzzle games, I found that Paper Trail hits the mark. The game appears simple but is actually complex with varying levels of difficulty (sometimes a bit too much). The logic of folding and creating new paths isn't immediately obvious, and it takes a few levels to get into the flow. However, the constant changes in dynamics keep the challenge engaging without being impossible. Highly recommended, despite being completed relatively quickly.

The console version of Horizon Chase 2 kept us waiting, but after spending a significant number of hours with it (which will surely increase), I can confirm it was well worth the wait. Aside from some minor general simplifications, Aquiris' new work expands and improves on its predecessor's solid foundations, delivering a highly enjoyable and long-lasting arcade racing game. The single-player campaign is satisfying and substantial, complemented by a multiplayer component that now goes beyond local play, finally embracing online gaming. With a good car selection and impactful technical execution, Horizon Chase 2 is a must-play for arcade racing fans.

It's said that the anticipation of pleasure is itself pleasure, but after playing System Shock Remake, I'm thrilled to have finally enjoyed the original title developed by Spector and Looking Glass. The game appears in top form even on consoles, as if the 30 years it carries were just a fleeting moment, with design and gameplay aging beautifully. Engaging, long-lasting, and incredibly fun, System Shock Remake is a must-have for immersive sim lovers and those seeking a timeless adventure. The transition from PC to console made some aspects slightly clunkier, but if that's the price to pay to challenge SHODAN again, who are we to complain?

Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles is an intriguing management game on paper, but it struggles to reach its full potential due to unclear gameplay elements and a control system that doesn't accommodate the player.

With Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Ninja Theory continues their strongly auteur path, proudly advancing their unique series with this logical and predictable sequel. The new adventure of Senua doesn't stray from its past, at least gameplay-wise, limiting innovations and confining itself to being "better seen than played." The overwhelming beauty of the audiovisual production, despite evident compromises, stands as the most impressive on consoles today. Some will undoubtedly complain about the lack of interactivity, bland combat, and self-serving puzzles, but if viewed as a purely narrative experience with strong cinematic elements, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will satisfy those seeking such an experience.

Not a revolution or a groundbreaking title, but a "clean" and fun game: Masters of Light is an experience halfway between a classic game and a rhythm game. You play as a deity of light facing a shadowy invasion, with five different upgradeable powers and 36 stages, each "signable" with a numerical performance. Masters of Light offers decent replayability despite some content limitations. A fun gaming experience with a "hidden" goal of physical exercise at a slightly lower-than-standard price.

With Jack Holmes: Master of Puppets, Antonio Esparcia Ibarra has delivered a highly respectable horror game that entertains and scares those who give it a chance. After about 5 hours needed to complete the adventure, it's hard to believe it was developed by a single person, given its surprising and inventive gameplay. While the absence of a larger development team and budget constraints occasionally show, Jack Holmes: Master of Puppets deserves to be played by survival horror fans for effectively embodying the genre's standards. I'm curious to see what TonyDevGame will bring next, hoping for better production values.

Soul Covenant made me quite angry, as it failed to do justice to an interesting VR concept, resulting in an underwhelming experience. The script, a crucial element for a JRPG, was particularly lacking. The repetitive gameplay quickly reveals all its cards, but it remains fun and visually impressive. While it could have done more, Soul Covenant can still please those seeking a functional and unpretentious title.

Saying I didn't enjoy Mixture would be false and unfair to Played With Fire's title. Sola and the Alchemist's adventure was fun and engaging, though it was marred by technical and conceptual issues that prevented it from being unforgettable. It's regrettable what it could have been with a bigger budget, but there's hope for a more successful sequel. I'd be happy to see that.

Sand Land is an excellent game, both in content and artistry. Its complex structure and engaging narrative ensure around 20 hours of fun. The developers created an open world that aligns well with the distinct style of Arale and Dragon Ball's creator. However, the game's general simplification might bore experienced players over time. Still, Bandai Namco and ILCA's offering is a positive and enjoyable project.

No, this time nostalgia isn't enough to raise Wrath: Aeon of Ruin to a satisfactory level. The console version’s limitations are evident from how the experience was adapted to home hardware controls, making it frustratingly difficult. The poorly balanced difficulty and the odd save system make it even worse. I suggest saving your money for something like Quake 2 Remaster, which still stands strong.

This HD remaster brings the same experience from the 3DS to current consoles, except for Street Pass, which has been replaced with a character-sending system to still retrieve items. The graphical updates are decent but not exceptional, with some low-definition elements remaining, particularly the illustrations. The change mainly focuses on reducing polygon aliasing, leaving most of the original visuals unchanged. The story, while interesting, is relatively minimal and often takes a backseat, being narrated mostly during gameplay and interrupting the monotony of exploration and constant battles. Overall, the remaster doesn't add much to the original 3DS version, offering a basic upgrade for a title that was already somewhat overlooked upon its initial release.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron HD Remaster is a game from the past that was appreciated for its stylistic approach and somewhat original gameplay. However, it should be considered a port for the Switch rather than a true remaster. Technically mediocre, with notable FPS drops even in docked mode, the Switch isn't the best console for it. Still, it allows fans to revisit the game and new players to experience it for the first time on a portable device. Recommended for nostalgic fans of action platformers from two generations ago, but unfortunately, the game hasn't aged well.

In the end, the question must be asked: was the recent attention on Stellar Blade justified? After spending many hours with EVE, the answer is yes. The adventure is solid and fun, with an interesting combat system and a gameplay loop that goes beyond mere melee sequences. However, it isn’t revolutionary, and the narrative reveals its cards too early. Despite these flaws, it offers a generous amount of content and is worth playing.
